We may be seeing different things. There were high quality shot attempts but as par for this season, the shots either miss the net, or hit the post. I don't feel Skinner really had to stand tall on some saves to prevent a goal against.

On the other side of the ice, Markstrom made several good saves on high quality shots. I feel that although Flames shot totals were significantly more than Oilers, the Oilers overall shot quality was stronger.

With that said, I don't necessarily think the Flames should've done anything different. It's the way they gotta be with this roster, and in the final minute, there were two shot attempts that could've ended up a goal. But the lack of finish prevailed again.

No matter who is on the team or coaching the team they will always be at a disadvantage vs. the McDavid Oilers when it comes to the rules...that is a frustrating point.

And it's not just vs the Flames...they have poor possession numbers and lead the league in powerplays.

the metrics say your team sucked in front of its goaltender

that marmot faced dufus needs to be wedgied atop a flag pole

embarrassment to nhl coaches

That’s the underlying issue, Oilers top player stepped up tonight with a solid solo effort as he’s paid to do. Our ‘top’ player almost set up some chances. Sweet. Cant rely on your teammates to finish chances. Take it upon yourself. As your paid to do. Saw JG take this initiative a lot over the years. 10.5 ####ing million hahaha
You know what helps score goals? Absolutely dummying the other team 5v5 and having 1 PP (to 3 against) definitely cuts down on the goals, no?

It's lazy. Officiating is bad league wide, for everyone. Put the puck in the net.

Refs are the problem.
How many goals did the Oilers get 5 on 5?

If the Flames had 3 or 4 penalties (they deserved at least that), they probably have more than one goal too.

Also, Flames are 6th in the league or penalties drawn. So the narrative seems silly when Flames get more PP opportunities then most of the league does.

Maybe it sticks out on this forum because Flames are also 5th in league for penalties taken.

Once again, was it bad for the Oilers tonight?

Same thing happened in the playoffs last year too.

Blatant interference call late in a game not called iirc.

It might be bad for them the next night, or the night after that. But they might find a way to score their way out of it.

Yet when they play the Oilers and have 77% possession they get ONE.

Honestly how often does this have to happen for people to admit the league wants McDavid to succeed and is doing what they can

I didn't see a single shot from the red line but I did see the Oiler bums throws pucks on net from the red line.

Playing for shot volume is great but it also needs to be quality volume and guys charging into the slot to cash in rebounds and create chaos. We did that to a certain degree tonight.

Couple of open nets missed and posts hit.

Skippy on the oilers end is an idiot and has been exposed for minor league coach he is.

When was the last time that you watched a Battle of Alberta and thought "wow the refs sure helped the Flames out tonight"?

To add to this, Flames draw more penalties (149) than the Oilers do (143) who are at 12th. For penalties taken, Flames have taken 161, while Oilers at 12th have taken 141.
