Why wasn't Nurses hit on Toffoli an interference penalty?

Exactly. They have the best player in the world, and when they play the Flames it's a rare time those greaseballs actually give AF. We just gotta wait another 3.5 years for them to complete their blowing the McWindow and he's gone, we're almost there...

Anyone who wants to say the league is properly officiated needs to explain that game. Flames with 77.93% XGF% at 5v5 and penalties are 3-1 in the Oilers favour.

Nurse lays an epic open ice his 40 feet from the puck and the refs just ignore it? There is no universe in which one or both if the ref's didn't see that interference. So why no call?

Just grab Tanev's stick for a bit, no big deal. Blatant trip on Ritchie? Nah. Hyman water skiing on Tofolli? All good.

And with all that it still took 2 posts for the Oilers to win.

The Flames dominated the Oilers that game. Absolutely dominated them. I hope Sutter calls those refs out hard.

this is why this team NEEDS to try players like Phillips, pelletier and zary, and give them proper looks

we know what we have in the greybeards and they're not going to suddenly start lighting the lamp

defining insanity here

And the Oilers are exactly what everyone knows they are. If you could label a team as a "PP specialist", that's the Oilers. Maybe it will get them into the playoffs, but they're not doing any damage. McD will put in his trade request soon enough.

I hope so. Or it could just be Jeff Ward hockey, high volume, low quality shots with little finish anytime they face a playoff team.

I think I'll leave ChatGPT to summerize the game

Quote:
The Calgary Flames suffered a tough 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night, but many fans and players are pointing to the questionable officiating as a major factor in the defeat.
The turning point came in the third period when Andrew Mangipane was called for a questionable holding penalty, which many viewed as a selfish and foolish play. The penalty led to the game-winning power play goal for the Oilers.
Flames captain Mark Giordano was vocal in his frustration with the call after the game, saying, "I can't believe Andrew took that penalty. It was a selfish play and it ended up costing us the game."
Adding to the disappointment for Flames fans was the subpar performance of color commentator Kelly Hrudy, who many felt failed to provide insightful analysis during the broadcast. Some even accused Hrudy of having a "really creepy stalker-like man crush" on Oilers superstar Connor McDavid, as he seemed to fawn over every play the forward made.
Overall, it was a tough night for the Flames, who will look to bounce back with a win in their next matchup.

Great we limited McDickFace to 1 point too bad it was the winning goal.

"questionable hold" GTFO that is as blatant as it gets.

Any take that involves Markstrom being the second best goalie is completely asinine.

I wonder if Mangiapane gets traded in the off-season to fix cap issues.

Can ppl please stop saying “we win that game 9 times out of 10”?! We literally don’t. In fact we’re LOSING those games almost 9 times out of 10.

We played a great game, but we don’t have enough finishers. Edmonton can afford to get outplayed by us, because one bad penalty and BAM, McDavid scored 5 seconds in.

Mangiapane play is 100% a penalty...the issue is the lack of calls on the Oilers obviously

Huberdeau was really throwing the weight around today. Awesome.

I was actually quite impressed by Klim Kostin. Oilers rarely seek out players like that.

Shots were 24-4 in the 3rd (plus 2 or 3 posts) and the Oilers got the only PP

Possession was well over 2 to 1 for the game, but the PPs were 3-1 for the Oilers.

Just in last minute, there were at least 2 blatant infractions that weren't called. And sorry, but if you're going to call Mangiapane there, you have to call the defenseman for interference as well/ Horrific officiating.

Very entertaining game though, and the Flames were by far the better team. The difference in the quality of the defense was very much on display in this game.

yeah, what the **** is this garbage

how did the Oilers earm more PPs at 5 on 5 where they were utterly dominated

they're chasing all night, logically they should be the ones taking more penalties

too often the calls are against the grain of the game and that tells me it's not being called competently. simple as that
