Reply, sure. But how am I supposed to not read posts I don’t like? How do I know I don’t like them until I read them?

Just skip them? It’s not that hard.

So many really incredible scenes out of the storm around Lake Erie.

That stuff is super cool. I always been impressed with the snow ghosts at places like Big White and Big Mountain because they look really cool but those frozen homes are really impressive.

I thought it was clear that my message was about people needing to drive appropriately for conditions and slow down, based on the context it was delivered in (clearly I was wrong about that being clear). And that pile-ups are generally the cause of speed that is excessive for the conditions. If you can’t stop in time or find yourself in 90+% accidents during the winter, that’s the result of a mistake, your’s or someone else’s. It doesn’t account for medical emergencies or wild animals and such, but the most common types of accidents you see in the winter are 100% avoidable with safer, smarter driving.

I don’t think that’s particularly controversial. Do you, now that I’ve clarified it?
I agree with this but it always leads back handing out licences to unqualified/trained people. forget the normal class 5 driver for a moment and realize there are literally people driving 80 tons of truck on our highways this winter who have never seen snow before let alone driven on it, Alberta/Sask has gotten a little better with training since Humboldt and have put a stop to just "buying" a license but the rest of the country hasn't caught up.

It would be an absolute joke but it's far from funny.

27 fatalities in Buffalo from the storm. Probably the worst winter storm for the region in decades

100% agree. Licensing has to be better across the board but especially for people driving truck. These things obliterate other vehicles and it’s a miracle if you survive a collision with one. Licensing and training should be incredibly strict, and winter driving training should be mandatory for all drivers as part of licensing.

I wore a tshirt under a down vest and I wore jeans. I was perfectly comfy and perhaps I felt a wee bit warm. A dude running outside with workout long sleeves and short shorts looked at me like I had two heads.

Bro, you were the one shivering in temps above zero. Why were you looking at me like I’m the stupid one? Also, how are you shivering in these temps during a jog? These temps are perfect for a cool down walk before kicking up the tempo again.

My comments? There's nothing noteworthy about being a normal person and preferring normal weather over -30... it was the justification for liking bitter cold weather that we found funny. Do you act like this is in real life?

YYC is basically shut down. It's too slick to actually push anything from the gate. Nothing has left yet.

I've worked at airports for 10 years and have never seen YYC or YEG this bad, ever.

Air Canada has just completely given up and pulled the plug on everything, which appears to be the right call. WestJet is trying, but their tractors just can't move the planes so now they have a bunch of planes fully boarded that are going to struggle to actually go anywhere.

Looking at ADS-B there are some flights managing to get out. Tough break for the folks that were flying back OGG-YYC, got diverted to Edmonton.

Anyone know what the highways are like around town? We were supposed to drive west this morning, but my brief walk this morning has me wondering if that's a stupid idea?

I went to take the garbage bin to the road and ended up on my back sling down the driveway with the can. Be careful out there!

Please tell me you have a doorbell cam with footage, and you also happened to be in your elf costume. I really could use a Christmas Miracle this year.

I remember there was a similar ice day about 5 years ago on the ramp and it was brutal. A solid layer of ice everywhere until the late morning. Baggage tugs could not move once you hooked up to a loaded baggage cart. Push back tractors were not as bad because of all the weight but it was a real struggle that morning.
