Is the Millen/Hrudey switch permanent? I don’t mind either of them. But isn’t Hrudey from CGY?

I’m liking Milllen a lot as well. He does offer what sounds like better insight. I kind of wonder if it’s because we’ve already heard all Hrudey has to say about the game, and he knows it so he sticks to lighter stuff.

I like Millen will call out a bad penalty by the refs, unlike Hrudey who is incapable of saying the refs made a mistake.

Oilers #1 in powerplay opportunities.

Flames #1 in times shorthanded.

Flames 29th in penalty differentials, Oilers 23rd.

And no game story ... didn't see the game with a long winter travel day yesterday.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I see that most of the Oiler comments were from the night before. They were too sad to comment on the Ducks game I guess.

Isn't this like full circle for Millen? I think he started his colour career with the Flames and 2&7.

If we could do a swap for Millen that would be a great pre deadline move.

Hrudey is ok but he doesn't actually talk about the game much and will pick a young player from the opponent and talk about how he's cheering for them to have a great career after a bad game.

He has to agree with every penalty call. Yup that slight tap riiiiiight there you see you can't do that gets called everytime.

Let's not forget every time the goalie from either team so much as sighs, Hrudey thinks they're hurt and let's us know we should all keep an eye on them the rest of the period.

The pick comment was hilarious. Is there a player in the league who throws more picks, or more blatant picks, than Draisaitl?

Agreed. He's our one clutch guy right now. We still need one or two more guys to step up.

so Oiler games are refereed differently...and that gives them an advantage because they are terrible 5 on 5

Millen is great and always has been. Good repoire with Ball and provides the right amount on insight without being preachy or condescending.

Kelly tries very hard to bring intangibles and "feelings" into his analysis about the Flames and certainly about the Flames opponent and tries too hard to be impartial as if he has to answer to the panel when he gets to Toronto each weekend.

Anderson can be clutch offensively but he does take risks. Again, the Kings' loss, despite all the headline bluster about Huberdeau, Rasmus was the one with the soft giveaway that lead to the 2 on 1 GWG against.

I wonder if the team has been given some more rope to be more potent offensively.

Starting to see Huberdeau make a lot of those high risk passes, Andersson is playing a bit more loose along with Hanifin. Kadri is making more dangerous plays around the blueline as well.

Or it just might they are gaining confidence in our goaltending again, and don't feel they have to be as tight and can give up a few more chances to create.

The game should have been a drubbing if we don't hit 5 posts.

Zadorov also explicitly called out how much he's learned under Sutter's coaching and that he is one reason why he's wanted to come back to the Flames. So, for those who believe Sutter forgot how to coach in the span of 6 months, it would seem (at least to Zadorov) that Sutter knows a thing or two about coaching, if there's ever a concern...

A guy no one is talking about is Hanifin; he has to be one of the most underrated defenseman in the league and within our own fanbase. Quietly performs against other teams top lines, QB’s our 2nd PP, takes the fight last night with Comtois despite not being a fighter and holds his own, and is just all around a great D.
