FFS you have McDavid and Draisaitl and you're still kicking around the same level as a team that just had two superstars bail on them. The level of managerial incompetence up North is astonishing.

The Oilers have been exactly as advertised. A team with zero depth beyond their 1st line, terrible D, and shoddy goaltending, who's only game plan is to ice McDrai for 25+ minutes a night and try to outscore their problems by diving and flopping for PPs. This is not a recipe for long term success in a sport where depth, elite goaltending, and a commitment to a strong team game are what wins championships. Not individual players.

8 years of McDavid so far and yet they still haven't figured this out. It's hilarious to watch.

They are exactly who we thought they were.

Frankly, its a failing on the NHL that they've had as much success as they have.

All successful teams that have won cups over the past several years (with maybe one exception) are built from the crease out. But Edmonton, they are special and will not address those positions.

This is a Katz mandate, he wants the Oilers of the 80’s and could give two craps about winning.

I wouldn't call that a roof collapse. It looks like some drywall fell from the ceiling. Still not good, but not as dangerous as a roof collapse would be.

Wait 3 more games and call it 2 seasons?

That would be cleaner but doubtful it would change much

It also wouldn't line up with their game against the Oilers tonight.

Which makes one wonder, why would you put drywall on a parkade roof... only in Edmonton I guess, to make it appear "higher class" - it's all for appearance. In a moist, wet, and possibly unheated environment... this event was totally predictable - it was just a matter of when.

Goaltending is not our issue. We have spent 7.5ish million on two goalies. It’s not an ideal situation but the team is not being hampered greatly by goaltending. Our defence, well that another story. I remain confident they will improve in that area though. Maybe make a trade for a solid stay at home guy, and be more focused on keeping the puck out of the net as the year goes on. Time will tell. Johnny Toews looks like a possible fit too so not sure where Kenny Holland will go from here. All I know is this is our year, and so far it hasn’t overly looked like it, but I remain confident.

I agree that 7.5M in total for goalies isn't bad. But the issue is that management repeated the exact error they did with Koskinen. They would have better served taking a chance that Skinner could be an adequate #1 and pair him with a cheaper veteran back-up. Over-committing to Campbell was just a mistake that reduces flexibility going forward.
