In the refs defence, it's not like it was super obvious or right in front of the goaltender as the play was whistled dead by the goaltender

you can respond to horrible reffing and bad bounces by giving up or by working harder. its sad to see the Jets kind of just went with it and laid over in the 2nd half of the game
