That shows adaptation over generations though, not necessarily during an individual's lifetime(thoguh I'd imagine that is possible to some extent).

Yeah, it’s incredibly dumb. I think if the entire justification for your love of +30 is that humans can survive it better than -30 then you’re probably doing a terrible job of justifying it lol.

“People are in danger! Death! Dismemberment! WE NEED +30!!!” lol nah, shut up and enjoy +20 like the rest of us you weirdos.

Annual reminder during these temperatures to:

- Knock the ice build-up off your furnace and hot water exhaust on the exterior of your house twice a day and definitely make sure you knock over any ice buildup under those exhaust outlets.

- Turn your humidifier down so you avoid ice buildup on your windows. This can lead to damming and water damage when things melt.

- If you do see ice buildup on windows, try to mop it up, and turn on your furnace fan to circulate air. Make sure your blinds/curtains are all the way open as much as possible.

- Run bathroom exhaust fans for 45-60 mins after showers/baths to assure the exhaust vents are cleared of steam.

- Make sure your dryer vents don't get ice buildup. It doesn't take too long to melt once the dryer is running but you risk clothes or fabrics burning in the meantime.

These items of advice are from my sister in the home service industry that's been responding to emergency home heating/water calls all day.

Oh, and make sure you have a new/clean furnace filter anytime temps drop like this. Your furnace will be running way more than usual, best to assure airflow with a clear filter than run into issues.

This and if you have a HE furnace and HW heater, check your intake vents to make sure they are not caked with the fine powdery snow or ice on the exhaust. Also let your kids karate kick the 4 foot high icicle every once and awhile.

I was referring to Acey getting angry and talking about people’s fingers falling off. And to a lesser extent, Estrada’s evolution rambling.

Who lives in who’s head again, djsFlames? “Everything he posts must be about me!!!”

At least we're not Vancouver, that looks like a disaster, a city not equipped for 25cm of snow.

I'm sorry, but anyone that prefers -30 to +30 has water on the brain. WTF. Lethal cold versus beach day. I agree that neither are comfortable, but one will kill you, and the other one gives you swass.

Quick look at historical data says Calgary has never hit +40° C. We've gone to -40° 11 times, the most recent in 1954. -30's and +30's are relatively regular occurrences although not large numbers of days each year (on average)

OMFG why the fata do you guys keep posting about -30 and pretending clothes aren't a thing?

You realize all those sidewalks, shopping centres, etc. were all cleared of snow by guys outside, right? Like, there are people working outside right now because there is such thing as clothes. If you walk outside you won't die.

I'm lethargic and miserable in +30. I hate it. In -30 I can choose clothing to make me an absolutely perfect temperature. I will say this, neither -30 nor +30 is ideal. I'll take +20 over -30, over -20, over -10, over 0 and over +10. It's not like I want to live in an igloo, but I am more comfortable in Calgary's coldest temps versus its warmest temps.
