But this the perfect time to try Phillips and see if we can belong in the top 6 against some crappy defensive teams.

What is more beneficial for this team? Potentially finding another player who can chip in some goals and skate with speed in the top 6 or Milan Lucic?

I don't think it's out of question that we see Rosie-Lewis-Phillips today.

I think everyone is assuming Phillips isn't playing. Why?

If Rosie-Lewis-Phillips play it means Phillips is playing with someone who he is very familiar and against favourable matchups while on the road.

If Phillips has a great game and Lucic looks out-of-place it's pretty easy to switch those two in game.

Well, for the past week or so he's been skating with the extras and not taking any line rushes or special teams practice and Darryl Sutter tends to practice with the lines he plays.

I think the better question is, given what we've seen the past week in practice, why would someone think he is playing?

I don't mind the trying Mangiapane back on the Backlund line, but I would certainly put Huberdeau-Kadri-Ruzicka together way before putting Lucic up on the second line. That one is a head scratcher for sure.

Ruzicka has looked like old uninterested Ruzicka so they are trying to get him going again I think. Maybe losing his spot for a short practice and couple of shifts gets his mind back in the game.

Roster freeze question - could the Flames have recalled a defenseman last night prior to the freeze but announce it today or would we have known already f they had to recall someone?

Yeah I think this is the real story.

He's disconnected again, so Sutter pulled him from the top three lines.

I hope it's only a practice day thing to get his attention ... or a first few shifts thing tonight.

I could be 100% wrong but I think Lucic in the top 6 is a placeholder for Ruzicka (or Phillips) to find another gear at the NHL level. I know people think Sutter is an idiot who hates young players but I think he's trying to get them to develop as NHLers and this is how he does it.

Winning. And further developing the team.

There is more than one way to develop players, and maybe Sutter thinks Ruzicka and Phillips will become better players if they learn some things along the way, instead of just handing them top 6 time because that is what fans want to see.

They should win this one regardless what the lines look like unless the Sharks turn it around significantly from last game. They gave the Flames more open ice than any other team has so far this year

And the strides that Ruzicka has made certainly suggests someone could possibly know what they're doing.

Flames record in the GDT is incorrect for the past 2 weeks. Better tell your source Cheese.

They have 6 losses in extra time.

Gotta figure that the Flames look at their victory on Sunday and take the Sharks for granted tonight.

Can DeSimone get down there in time? Are flights cancelled or anything with the weather?

I was thinking the same thing on Ruzicka with Kadri and Huberdeau.

Lucic Lewis Ritchie should stay our 4th line.

We desperately need one more forward for the top 6. Not sure if it’s coming internally. It would be nice to try Zary or Pelletier to see what they can do.

I think we’ll be searching for another winger at some point.

That would be the track record of the 2022 flames so far. At some point they are going to have to overcome the inconsistency tendencies.
