Did Tanev end up with a concussion, or any rumours of the injury? I know it's from the puck, just looking for specifics as the replays weren't clear that I saw.

Mackey with two goals but that backhand up the middle was so bad. He and Stone may be in the doghouse.

Gilbert in for Mackey before anyone else. Mackey is bad.

They should get Mackey some AHL time to get a little confidence. Pretty much always on eggshells since the season started.

Wouldn't he have to clear waivers?

They didn't want to send him down because he had to clear waivers. I don't think that is a concern anymore.

Yeah you may as well now. It's pointless if he's just going to sit there and rot anyway.

I was wondering about a possible inner ear problem, but just speculating.

I doubt he would board a plane if he had an inner ear type issue.

At very least a pretty good bruise and some nasty headaches, and likely would hurt just to put a helmet on for a few days.

I like Gilbert. Probably more than Mackey. Hopefully he can get some more minutes before Tanev and possibly Big Z come back.

I was worried about it being more on the back of his neck under the helmet (like Langkow but obviously not as severe).

The last punch Gilbert took looked like it was right in the eye. He dropped and covered up and I immediately worried he broke his orbital bone. Weird thing to think, but thats what sprang to mind.

Been enjoying watching him for the Wrangler's this season - he had a "scripted" fight in the Thursday game last week, I wasn't quite sure the point other than a couple guys jawing on the previous whistle. I also think he got a goal recently, his first of the season down there.
Aside from the possible injury yesterday, scripted fighting needs to be gone from this game. Not only does it add extra risks for the players, it is lame to watch as a fan. I'm all for standing up for your teammates or trying to create a spark- but that rarely needs to happen immediately after a puck is dropped.
