Can they even now? I though you could only move up a certain amount of spots now

They can win the lottery just not move all the way up to 1st overall but there is a condition that it’s top 10 protected so I’d rather it not win the lottery

Its top 10 protected so Buffalo is getting pretty much the best they could have hoped for

Glad it didn't work this year though.

A healthy Monahan could score 90 points and lead the Flames to new heights, too.

Man, last summer was awful. Then the time leading up to the trade was awful. I was convinced the Flames were gonna land him and do what Vegas did and poop the bed.
So glad they got him. Maybe might hurt later when he's back to full form, but as you can see, I like having a team. Not an Oiler esque level of depth and cap constraint.

Eichel’s been playing with a broken hand fwiw. I do however still think he’s a bit overrated but wait until next season to come to any conclusions.
I’m so happy they missed the playoffs. So happy

Should have traded for Eichel, probably would have been able to keep Gaudreau then, and maybe even Tkachuk, and we wouldn’t be in this hell hole of a position we’re in now. Instead we’d have a franchise #1C with two elite wingers and would be a perennial cup contender for years to come.
And yet people on here were scared to trade for him due to his surgery…and now he’s back to his PPG + form.
Once again, the homers on here were wrong lol.

Tell me exactly how the flames would have been able to afford the three of them and field a full roster.

Man, we should have listened to you. Every single other person said that would be a stupid trade, but you insisted it would bring us to the promised land, even though it seemed so ridiculous to everyone else. Here we are. If we had traded everything for Eichel like you, and only you said; we would easily be first in the west, probably the league.

I think it’s pretty obvious that we as fans control which trades the team does and doesn’t make so we need to accept responsibility.

wasn't Buffalo set on Tuch and Krebs from pretty much the beginning?
not sure the Flames ever had a shot. by the sounds of it they were just being used to leverage that package from Vegas
can't say the Flames were stupid for not creating an impossible deal with a team that wanted another teams players
they hung in there and tried and it turns out they had no shot .. maybe they should be commended for being in it in case Vegas bowed out
gm did exactly as he was supposed to

here's a thought: maybe huberdeau does the same as eichel in a new situation and regains his form following season and we all eat our words?
did eichel ever finish third in league scoring?

I was one of the people pushing the hardest for Eichel, but we wouldn't have all 3 players right now if that trade went through. We don't want that many Yankees anyway.

Career high 82 playing with Johnny, next highest 64.
Healthy or not, he was more a scorer, and he wasn’t getting 90 points.

Eichel would not be successful playing on a Darryl Sutter team. The lack of transition and speed would kill Eichel and the dump and chase would not use his skills. We've heard it been said from Huberdeau, the thing that is hurting him is the lack of speed at which the game is being played in Calgary. Not many current NHL stars would be successful in this plough horse system. I have no idea why Sutter changed things up from last year when the game was all about speed and transition. The Oilers series broke him.
