A reminder for viewers outside of the Flames region, this is a regional game on Sportsnet West. This means Centre Ice is required to see this game.

Yes I think Sutter is very much to blame for a lot of what has gone wrong this season. Nothing like a panicked lineup change after a 5-2 start with some poor goaltending.

He has gone to the blender a lot, and it seems to be at odd times.

So the guy that left all three defense pairings and the top line together all last season is now Mr. Blender?

Or he didn't like what he was seeing and continues to look for a set up that clicks?

Rosie-Kadri-Toffoli
Dube/Mang-Backlund-Coleman
Phillips/Lucic-Zohorna-Lewis

Phillips should play but Sutter gonna Sutter.

I'm choosing to be positive going into this game...predicting a 4-2 Flames victory, with an empty-netter. Looking for a strong game from Huberdeau with his new linemates, as well as from Dube getting a shot alongside Lindholm.

Looch should be fresh and hopefully not as slow...maybe his game will pick up a bit being hungry to prove himself and playing with Zohorna...and Lewis has been pretty good lately. Still hope Sutter doesn't overplay that 4th line though.

St. Louis has the 6th worst GA in the league so I think we can pot a few against them.

Finally, Marky has looked better recently and will not give up a goal within the first few shots this game.

I hope this post does not age poorly...lol. GFG!

He is Mr. Blender this season yes.

They did click, but he blew it up and we have never found that consistency again. If he gave them a few more games, they may have had lines with chemistry.

He rode Hanifin and Andersson after a poor start as well.

I guess we will see tonight if the new configuration works.

I don't think Kadri works with Huberdeau either, but I guess we will see. I thought bumping Mang up might work as well maybe see if he can get going and stop coasting.

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Dube - Kadri - Phillip
Ruzicka - Backlund - Toffoli
Coleman - Zohorna - Lewis

If Phillips doesn't work you can swap him with Toff, or put him on the 4th line and bump up Coleman and Toff.

depending how the game goes I can see Sutter doing that on the fly.

Ruzicka has looked good beside Backlund. A stable 3rd line is important as well. Backlund has been one of our most consistent forwards this season.

Since we are all chiming in, Id like to see:

Huberdeau-Backlund-Phillips
Ruzicka-Lindholm-Mangiapaine
Dube-Kadri-Toffoli
Ritchie-Zohorna-Coleman

Gotcha ...

So he's simultaneously guilty of not sticking with the forwards and sticking with the top defense pairing.

So you're upset with him regardless then.

I was against the Kadri - Huberdeau alliance early but there is a wrinkle that might work.

Kadri takes the line with speed. He doesn't use his teammates and he rarely passes the puck but he gets the puck in.

Maybe that creates zone time that we weren't seeing with none of the three existing top line guys good at taking the zone.

These aren’t my first choice in lines either but I look at these lines and they have more balance in speed and players good in transition

Can’t be worse then what we’ve seen 5 on 5

I remember people were irritated when Ruzicka was being scratched & now look at him. We have no idea the conversations & practice/teaching that Sutter is providing Phillips. I’m willing to give Sutter a little more rope regarding his deployment. I’d wager Sutter wants to put him in a situation to be successful vs just throwing him out there because he’s the AHL’s leading scorer. Naive? Maybe but I’m not going to lose sleep unless he’s sent back down with little to no more ice time.

The amount of line changes Sutter has made this season falls in line with the inconsistent play of this team. The team follows the lead of its head coach and he has not done a very good job this season.
it's the timing with which he switches things up to a new look that gets me

lines start to mesh after a couple games and then he changes them to something we haven't seen before

the fourth line dispersion attempt was probably the most "wtf" of the roster moves

im willing to see huby and Kadri together but why put dube where ruzicka has proven to be better suited

I don't really know any more with this guy

You may want to consider if your bias against this coach is so strong that you are going to dislike everything he does.
