Funny you say that as right now Spector on 960 is defending Nurse after that play. Also funny he said that the Campbell contract is the one Holland would want back after all of his summer tweets saying it was a brilliant move. The guy is shameless.

A good leader would say they don’t agree with the call but they’re moving on. Not start complaining about unrelated plays. Especially with the amount of calls they’ve been gifted.

I wasn't arguing that he was cool and good, just that the lack of clarity on what was and wasn't a call is valid.

I didn’t mean to imply that. Just riffing off your post.

mcdavid is still immature enough to think his complaints matter instead of learning what a captainly response would be

The Coleman non goal, the Makar one that counted, McDavid's last night.
All over the place on kicking, goalie interference and off side (control) rulings.

It is a poorly officiated league with rules that allow very loose interpretations

This one is easy to solve... take all interpretation out of it... if it goes in the net... it's a good goal.... if you're kicking causes and injury or some other infraction (tripping, etc), a penalty is called and of course it happened before the goal... so the goal doesn't count, but if all you kicked at was the puck, then it's a good goal.

lol I doubt the league wants to encourage players kicking at the puck with razor sharp blades on the ends of their feet.

Remember that offside on Lucic's goal that was called back... the player entering the zone dragged the puck along the blue line to avoid the defender and then crossed the line fully after Lucic entered. I think this is a good goal, I think that once it touches blue paint, then the threshold is reached, not the inside part of the line.
For a similar reason, I think that the McDavid's offside last night was onside, McDavid went to make a hockey play at the line to avoid the defender (O'Reilly) and push the puck to a place where he could grab it again avoiding O'Reilly... O'Reilly never gained control and only after both the puck and McDavid completely crossed the line does O'Reilly's stick get into a position in front of McDavid's stick and possession is in doubt. When skating with the puck, you're stick is not always in contact with the puck... but you still have control and possession, much like dribbling in basketball. O'Reilly never touched the puck until it crossed and McDavid put the puck to the exact place he wanted (showing control).
I think the call on the ice should stand unless there is an egregious call.... this 1 mm offside that is just too close for the linesman to call at real speed... that's onside. Remember why we brought this in, that offside that was missed where the player was offside by meters in the playoffs... that's what we are trying to prevent... not these plays above.

Yes... I heard that argument.... but they still do... they still kick at it to put it in or pass it, they still try and dig the puck out of the corner too with these same sharp skates. It's a sport with stick and skates... and none of these rules prevent the players from trying to reach a puck with their sticks or skates.
What is the difference if they kick at the puck to pass it... that's allowed, but the same injury can occur.

I should have added... within easy reach of his stick, so still at his feet.

You talking about when he lost control until he got it back at the top of the circle?

Just get rid of the bluelines and offside. If teams want to cherry pick let them do it. It'll just make them worse defensively.

How would powerplays work? Defence would get no relief

Nurse gets scored on twice as much. Not seeing any issue.

I am loving the comparisons with the Makar play because it truly shows how dumb those mouthbreathers are. The play was in front of Makar and he never touched the puck inside the blueline until the Av's were fully onside. So 6" or 6' of space is irrelevant because he never touched the puck until the play was onside so how could it be deemed offside. Mcdavid put himself ahead of the puck and put his whole body offside therefor why would possession even matter if he entered the zone before the puck. And then it was clear he also lost possession of the puck when he was stick checked by Orielly and the puck ended up in his feet. There is literally zero controversy to be had unless the NHL wants to change the rules to include the blue line as being onside. I am loving every bit of the salt coming from the North because it shows how clueless and babied they have been since the Lotteryballs dropped.

Kicking to score neccessarily involves the goaltender, imagine going to glove a loose puck dead and someone is trying to boot it in... maybe even trying to slide tackle it by you

Uh oh, McWhiner complained about the offside rule. The league better change the rule, " McWhiner shall never be called on off side in ANY circumstance.
