Is Huberdeau hurt or something or is there some reason for 8:21 icetime through two periods?

MT and JG would have had a big game against this canucks team!

All of this resulted from Ritchies lack of speed.

Thoughts in this.

I’ve been doing my best to defend Marky, while tough, being a goalie at definitely not NHL calibre, I can understand some of the plights of bad goals, taking the blame and what not.

Now thoughts: how much do you guys think a lot of Marky’s struggles this year fall on LaBarbera? I only say this cause the things that people are saying about Marky not playing big enough, he keeps playing too low etc, I’ll be honest I do see a bit from Vladar as well. We’re all smart enough here to know that talent doesn’t go away, and Marky is talented. Could goaltending philosophy be the plight of his struggles? Not sure if it’s been explored yet
Welcome!

It's really hard to say. I have wondered about the organization's goalie coaching for years, because we continue to see goalie digress while here, and we have seen the same 'playing small' issues in the past.

Having said that, LaBarbera is highly regarded, and seemed to have success in VAN(?) before coming here.

Without knowing what the goalie coaches are saying, it is hard to make any judgements. But it is also difficult to lay any praise, with the lack of goaltending success, post Kipper.

Cmon Calgary. Get another one. Don't think I can stomach another PK in OT.

I don't think LaBarbera was even a goalie coach in Vancouver. Primarily the Hitmen before getting this Flames role. Besides that, he was barely an adequate backup goalie in the NHL.

Not to say that being a crappy backup in the NHL correlates with coaching ability.

Maybe something to do with his multiple horrendous giveaways and terrible coverage on one of the goals against.

This team is just not good enough. Zero sustained pressure, weak shots to the net that do nothing, bad passing, turnovers in the neutral zone. Very disappointing season so far.

Irrelevant.

Most coaches were role guys, not stars (they typically had to work harder, and listen to their coaches more)

Cheers bud!

See I was kinda thinking the same thing. I felt like Kipper’s decline started after Marcoux left. That being said, wasn’t sure how highly regarded Babs was, so interesting to know. Great take and thoughts though.
