It's hardly a bad thing that he's scratched for a game or two as long as he comes back in with more in his toolkit the next time.
 |
I don't think it's a bad thing for him to sit necessarily. He barely played last game, I'd give him at least one more.. If Ritchie is playing through something it seems kind of stupid.

For the record I do not think Phillips is our answer, but I know that Ritchie and Lewis aren't either.

Ritchie and Lewis have 5 goals each...Lewis is a great PKer
Hate for those two is misguided. They are both good 4th liners.

I don't hate either of them, I actually like Ritchie. I really don't mind a 4th line with Zohorna either. It just seems like the Flames are spinning their tires with this lineup. Huberdeau and Toffoli just aren't working that well. I'd like to see Huberdeau with Mangiapane as his wing, just to see if there's anything.

It's not a bad thing for Phillips to sit, but this team is having a lot of trouble scoring, Then again they seem to be having trouble doing everything.

Yeah, I don't get it either. They do their role as well as any 4th liners can and their cap hits reflect what they do. They are far from the problem with this team, unless people think we shouldn't have any 4th line players.

How about just win it in regulation and never go to OT? |

The most notable and relevant spinning is happening on the first two or three lines. If those lines get their traction, the current fourth line level performance should be sufficient.

Lewis is a bad PKer but otherwise I still like him

Worst forward on the team in every category on the PK (CA/60, FA/60, SA/60, xGA/60, and most importantly GA/60). Compared to the rest of the league he checks out fine but he’s the worst on the team to me.

Ritchie has been pleasantly average this year at least, although maybe he only looks good compared to Lucic. Ritchie’s goals haven’t been ones that good goalies would let in in my memory.

But they’re fine enough for now, especially when they’re not saddled with Lucic.

Well the 4th line we ran with for the first 25 games was not sufficient unfortunately, very hit and miss.

Yeah the 3rd line has been ok, it's the top 2 lines.

The Canucks are a really odd situation, they aren't as bad as we think they are, or their own fans do. You'd think they were having a season from hell with how they're talked about but it's rather mid. They are probably a better team than Columbus and as good as Montreal. They are scoring at a top 10 clip.
They might have a bottom tier defense and are getting bad goaltending but this year's Flames have a tendency to lay an egg when playing non-contenders. We can also make any goalie look like a vezina candidate with high shot volume of low danger shots.

5-4 OT coin flip who wins.

9 games left in 2022. 5 road, and 4 home. 8 of them divisional
I'd like them to get 7 wins. They almost need to.

How many line changes can they possibly do? There’s no magic pill for 4-5 underperforming forwards. You can hide 1 or 2. Not 5.

Agreed. The 4th line have had there struggles, but aren't the reason the team loses most nights.

We've put Huberdeau with Lindholm/Toffoli and Backlund/Coleman when he came back. Toffoli has 6 even strength goals, Lindholm has 5.

The top 2 lines just aren't working. I'd at least try Mangiapane, a left handed shot with Huberdeau. I think Toffoli would look exactly the same on the second line. I'm not taking a shot at Toffoli either, I think he's been pretty good.
