Haha yeah that Darryl would never play the smallest player in the NHL on a Saturday night in Toronto right? It was literally last game man. Jeeze Louise.

Monahan is out due to (sigh) injury. Hoping they're just playing it safe, I'm guessing the Habs want him healthy in case they move him at the trade deadline.

1 game doesn't say much... loL?

We need to see a stretch of 5+ games with more than limited minutes.
Last game is tough to judge as the flames were penalized for 18+ minutes which removes almost a period of playing time for non-PK guys.

But Daryl's been pretty vocal about Phillips being "too small" to be effective in the NHL.

Give the kid multiple games in a top 6 scoring roll, that hasn't happened yet.

Friedman comments about Lucic on 32 thoughts.

I strongly disagree. I think these teams have scouts and data people like everyone else.

It used to be that Darryl should get with it and be okay with playing under-sized kids in the lineup. Then when he did that, it's shifted to he should be okay with playing them in the top 6. If he does that, it'll shift that he should be okay with playing them on the top line.

Friedman's take was an odd one as they just finished talking about the Flames taking so many penalties, Wideman effect etc then talk about Lucic not running over players like he used to and the Flames sending him a message to be that guy again. Why? So he can take bad penalties?

Win tonight and the road trip is 1-1-1. Then they get home for 2 against struggling teams, followed by a 4 game trip (2 vs. San Jose) trough California before Christmas. A good chance to win 6 or even all 7 of thee games and be looking really good before the post-Christmas showdown with the Oilers.

Flames win easily tonight. 5-2.

Lucic is at a point in his career where he will play his best hockey in a 40-50 game season instead of an 82 game one. I love what he was brought to the team since coming here ( especially knowing the context) but time as caught up to him.

Sounds like Lucic agent talking to the team through Friedmans.

Lucic's agent and Boesner's begging Tre to call Rutherford or whoever actually calls the shots in Van

He had a walking boot on when he played here. He ended up aggravating that injury, so he unfortunately is out.

Wonder if there was a party at Monahan's house last night, and if so, who was brave enough to attend?

Flames get a bounty of power plays, but fail to convert on any of them, go 0/6. Habs get 2 power plays all game, score on both.

Flames lose 3-0 with an empty netter.

I think I've seen this film before...and I didn't like the ending.

Other than Weegar being out I like those lines. Stone needs to be a 7th D though. Lucic should be sitting and I sure hope he shows something when he gets back into the lineup again.
