So they chickened out on putting Phillips in?
Need another 230 lb 4th liner that can’t score instead. Makes sense seeing as how offense is this teams big problem.

Want Phillips in top 6, but Sutter doesn’t think he can replace anyone in the top 9? Doesn’t give me much hope he gets in without an injury, but we will see…

Is Zohorna's contract more pricey than Phillips' or something?

Or it is quite possible that a top 6 forward is nursing an injury and may have to sit out.

Honestly this really annoys me. It comes across as Sutter just trying to prove a point.

I think (hope) not putting Phillips in vs CBJ is more a last chance for a few guys to prove they can play in the NHL. If you can’t pull it out against CBJ, you be replaced.

I can only hope they’re true to what Sureloss posted and are getting a spot in the top six for phillips and then are figuring out how they balance the fourth line. Hopefully around Zadorna/Lewis/?. Who the last is I don’t know. Dube? Coleman? Mangiapane?

This fanbase is reminding me more and more of the Oilers fanbase.

It would make sense. Both teams have a horrid history of success in the last 30 years.

@Fan960Steinberg
Matthew Phillips is on the ice for warmup in Toronto.
He’ll make his season debut tonight. #Flames

I think he played like 2 shifts in the whole game - didn't see much. Not sure if he did anything worthwhile to really note his presence. On the other hand, Zohorna was definitely noticeable, especially with 2 power moves in both games and he's definitely a big body in front of the net that account for a couple of goals.

phillips was very good in his limited time
nearly an assist when mangiapane hit the post on the second pp unit
you can tell he can read the game well and anticipate it

Ya I thought he played well. His size deficit is really noticeable when he's defending his point man. Can't possibly be worse than Lucic' point coverage.

I do think with the Phillips thing it's seeing what you want to see.
He didn't play a lot, but I thought he contributed to moving the line up the ice, which to me is key for graduating players.
That and no terrible turnovers or blown assignments.

I'm not sure if this is green text, but Phillips played 9:21 minutes, did he take 4 and a half minute shift? I saw him go to the front of the net to try to poke the puck free.
You can praise Zohorna, without putting down Phillips. I like Zohorna's game btw, I think both kids play well.
