He had a pretty good game against the Jets who are the Canadian team he struggles against the most.
I didn't watch most of the game last night but even some of his biggest critics on here were giving him credit for having a good game. The team should build on it. Like it or not he's still an important part of the team.

zohorna gave the best presence in front of the net (/net driving) we've seen since last season
twice he crashed the net and was fishing for rebounds that were there
made some fearless plays behind and around the net
I was amazed at how he could fish pucks with his long reach and then maintain possession under pressure
he was extremely effective as the 4C, whereas the vets on that line to this point in the season were largely perimeter players despite being big guys that shouldn't get pushed around physically
I didn't realize how badly we needed that kind of energy and tenacity (and skill) there and how much it was missing before this game

Zohorna did look pretty good.
Didn't miss Lucic at all, honestly.

Based on Stone's play of late and Sutter's postgame comments about not liking 2/5 goals, I think this is a good bet.

I didn't expect vladar to just take over
has to be eased into a bigger workload
he's been more average the last two games statistically, so a little break might be good
Markstrom looked better last game but **** does the team need to ease him into games better early on so he can build confidence

A lot of people think that 3 on 3 hockey in overtime isn’t real hockey.
Apparently, the Flames agree.

We seem to get a penalty at the beginning of every overtime. Bloody hell.

He didn’t have any takeaways but he did battle along the boards well despite his size. And he did have a good zone entry which helped lead to Lewis’ goal

Well that dude has been instrumental in getting the Leafs points in 14 straight games.

Won’t talk about penalties but how did Hanifin’s second goal count? Continuous play? What about the goal that was waived off against Columbus because the whistle had gone?
I’m sure there’s an explanation for it but it would be nice to have some consistency for stuff like that.
Also, I’m glad Phillips looked okay and that Lucic was scratched; Looch is no longer an every day player so he’s going to have to learn how to bring energy and physicality whenever he gets injected into the lineup.

While I agree with you on most of what youre saying, I think its pretty unfair to compare Huby to those guys who have been playing together for a long time. Huberdeau has been playing with his mates for 28 games in a team where he was traded to. I think his confidence really rattled after Zito completely blindsiding him and now our fans are calling him the worst contract ever in history because he is not replicating his last season

No one is calling Huberdeau all that because he isn’t replicating last season.

Huberdeau has been absolutely horrific. Loses every battle, tries the hardest possible play ever almost every time, and is soft as baby s***………it appears he has his money now and could give a rats ass about performing.

^^ I think that is going a tad bit far, I think he is trying to find his spot still. I have hope he will find it, hes making it hard for some of his line mates to trust him though. Flames are lacking one more creator on that top line as Toffoli isn't that I feel, I dont know if Ruzicka can play the off wing but I would try him there personally.
Flames played a good game last night, will be interesting if and when they find their next gear. One thing I do know is that if there is anyone that can get this team there it is Sutter.

Huberdeau came into a situation where fans were very eager to cheer for him and had loads of positive enthusiasm for him as a Flame. Many were in favour of even making him team captain to start the season. Fans were also pretty happy about his contract when he signed it. We're just getting unhappy now because performance is so far off of expectations, and the stars we lost to other teams are making it pretty hard to ignore that it's possible to walk onto a new team and have immediate impact without needing a half-season warmup.
He had the red carpet rolled out to him by the organization and the fans. He had plenty of support to pump his confidence up. He just hasn't turned up as expected yet. Everyone is still hoping that he will. Nobody is cheering for him to bomb.
