It’s good that the forward ranks have (hopefully) been sorted.
Now the defence has to be. Stone needs to come out, and then reunite Zadarov with Weegar while playing Mackey or Gilbert with Tanev.
That being said, I just don’t think this team is really much more than what we’ve seen. Just a mediocre team that will be battling for a playoff spot all season long.
Ritchie, Lucic, and Rooney being out of the lineup has improved the team overall without question.

Our top four guys? Just over 6 minutes.
Absurd.

Who are our top four guys? Serious question.

The high sticking calls were obvious but it was the early ones for the Toronto tugeyes that tilted the ice for them. The non call on Coleman was a joke that directly led to the first goal. The cross check by back mound led to the second goal.
They call the game correctly it’s a different outcome. But lo and behold, complaining about the refs again. Broken record time. Leaf’s still gonna get bounced from the first round.

These games against Leafs and Greasers are so tiring. We are handicapped before puck drop.

I noticed him quite a bit, he was good in terms of this is only his second NHL game and did not have a whole lot of practice. Does he belongs? Well this is only his second NHL game, but IMHO, he didn't look out of place, kept up with the pace and not afraid to go to the front of the net. With a few more practice, I'm sure he'll be better.

Phillips didn't do much. The times he had the puck, he looked kind of rushed. Being his first game of the season and only 2nd NHL game, he probably needs to adjust to the speed of the game. Pretty normal for a rookie. Hopefully he can adjust.

The onky exception is that it was somewhat known that Wilson was on the back nine of his career. Huby was supposed to be in his prime, after last season.

Using what statistics? Please dont trot out ridiculously small sample sized things like HDCF% or something for all 7 minutes he was out there and happened to be on ice for a HDC he didnt do anything for.
He was falling all over and had a tough time carrying the puck. Like Sutter said his size is a real issue. I didnt see anything impressive about him tonight except he didnt hurt the team. Which in itself is a win. But please dont trot out some ridiculous advanced stats when he played such small ice time, mostly on PP2 to try and make some point.

This isn't the year, team kinda sucks.

(1) This was the moment that cost the game
(2) I am l more interested in next season than this one…think this is a “feeling out” year, given all the changes and that next year will be more telling…

Cup winning King teams barely made the playoffs too. If this game was called like a playoff game the Flames win easily. I'm giving them the season to figure it out with the many changes and see how they perform in the playoffs.

Lindholm had a clear chance after the Leafs back to back powerplays and Holl has his stick parallel to his waist. Huberdeau tripped by Gio in the corner.
It's more the non calls than the calls on the Flames

Thought the high sticking calls were legitimate calls. The first call on Hanifin was a complete joke in my opinion.

It's ok to make bad judgements based on small sample sizes but not good ones? You're being ridiculous here...

Zohorna has size and decent skating ability. Can’t teach reach. He’s much better than Rooney. Rooney was below average in every facet.
Zohorna will acclimatize. He’s a fourth liner. He’s decent for what he is. He’s faster than Rooney and lucic. RZ Phillips and Ritchie would be a decent fourth line with lucic rotating for Ritchie the odd game is a better line up for this team.
