Thought Phillips looked rough. Falling down alot and getting pushed off the puck. Hopefully just first game nerves.
Zahorna was noticable in a good way.

It's really apparent playing a fast team like the Leafs. The Flames as a group are slow, play slow, pass slow, react slow, and get out skated all over the place, and I think that's maybe why the defence looks so loose and disorganized. "uh oh now what?"

And of course both refs are from Ontario. Every game should be officials from out of province/state.

Neither team is a contender. Flames defence is missing some iq. Everyone beyond tanev looks pretty inconsistent. Even he had a rough game tonight.
I thought Darryl was the defenceman whisperer. So much for that moniker. Where is this team over achieving or maximizing its efficiency?
Whole team looks lost.
The amount of time they don’t spend in the offensive zone versus stronger teams is concerning. The amount of will power they show to rise above lottery teams is inconsistent.
15th pick in the draft.
I’d try to sign coronato asap. Put him with the top line.

Great game, still in a playoff spot 2 points up on the Wild.

Feels like we take 2 high sticking penalties/game minimum.

This isn't the year, team kinda sucks.

Anderson sometimes his mind seems to wanders. On that play, he could easily just flip it out of the zone.

yeah .. I'm not in the mood for moral victories after the last two games
yes .. zohorna and phillips injected life into the bottom six of this line up and deserve even more opportunities just based on what they contributed tonight

I loved on that late pk in the 3rd how the ref skated all the way around the back of the net from the other circle to guarantee Vladar had it before he blew it down. In response Vladar even picked it up with his blocker hand sarcastically due to the rediculous late whistle. Amazing compared to how fast they blew the whistle at the other side then had to reluctantly allow to be called a goal.

I don't even think the Leafs as a team are that quick. I think its the biggest reason they struggle in the playoffs, but tonight ya they clearly looked like the faster squad.

Flames deserved a better fate. Powerplays were the difference, and it was lopsided in the Leafs' favor. Pretty standard for a game against the Leafs. Thought the team looked better, but my god, the bar is so low for some players and impossibly high for others. Phillips reminded me of Mangiapane when he was called up. Zahorna looks like a guy that could stick. Stick with this lineup and they could right the ship. Maybe.

On the plus side , Phillips looked like he belongs. Zorro brings more than Rooney. Rosie needs more time on the top line. He looked good for what time he got out there.
Dube looked like he was creating chaos with his speed and grit.
Backs looked good and eats bread looked ok.
Vladar let that bad nylander goal in but he did ok despite the bad dzone play.

Marner, Matthews, Tavares and Nylander combined for 28 minutes of PP time.
Our top four guys? Just over 6 minutes.
Absurd.

Was it a great game? It wasn't awful, but for a game with 9 goals I thought it was pretty boring from the Flames. Not much creativity or inspiration.
