5 THINGS - FLAMES @ MAPLE LEAFS

LAST TIME OUT

The Flames are looking to get back into the win column after a 3-1 setback to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.

"I think our defence struggled mightly with the puck and in coverage for the whole game," head coach Darryl Sutter said afterwards.#

"We had some guys who came for a visit and not to try to win the hockey game. Very disappointing."

The Flames lone goal came from Michael Stone late in the game, making it a 2-1 affair, but the Blue Jackets were able to add an empty-netter to secure the win.

Preview
Calgary at Toronto

Because of player absences, the Toronto Maple Leafs will make some adjustments for their game against the visiting Calgary Flames on Saturday night.

The Maple Leafs also will try to extend two significant streaks in their game against the Flames, who lost 3-1 to the host Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.

Toronto's Mitchell Marner scored a goal Thursday night in a 5-0 home victory over the Los Angeles Kings to stretch his team-record points streak to 21 games (10 goals, 18 assists).

The Maple Leafs have shut out their past two opponents, beating the host Dallas stars 4-0 on Tuesday with Matt Murray making 44 saves before Ilya Samsonov stopped 29 Los Angeles shots on Thursday.

Toronto has collected at least one point in 13 consecutive games (10-0-3) to move within three games of the cub record set in the 2003-04 season.

On Saturday, the Maple Leafs will be without Pierre Engvall (one-game suspension) and Nicholas Robertson (shoulder injury).

Happy Birthday!!

After last nights showing (or lack there of) we better be flying tonight.

Give us Zahorna and Phillips, make Lucic sit until he's fine with a trade anywhere.

I hope you get your birthday wish but be prepared as this one could be ugly as the Leafs are playing excellent and the Flames are not.

Sutter was super pissed last night so tonight the team is going to come out flying and we can walk off the ledge a bit here. Go Flames!

This is the game that will define the season going forward. It is time for the guys getting paid the big bucks to pull their weight and show some freaking emotion. I'm talking about you #10. When will this guy become noticeable?

If they get blown out tonight then it's time for some players to sit a few games.

I believe we will win tonight though. GO Flames GO!

3-0 Leafs.

Giordano, Brodie, Huberdeau into his own net.

Marner gets 8 points.

4-3 Flames. Sutter has beat the living life out of all the players last night and now they are too afraid to lose, 55 game winning streak starts tonight

It’s make or break. As much as I’d like to see them come out flying after last night, I can’t help but subjectively feel like the room has totally tuned Sutter out.

Perhaps a total whitewash will start the process of some much needed changes. What those are, beats me, but this team has a huge problem somewhere.

Back-to-back, just played like absolute dog#### last night, and playing a team that's got it's #### together?

Yeah, you can put it in the L column. Don't have confidence they'll have a strong bounce back game.

Hope Phillips draws in at least. Team badly needs injection for offensive skill.

Toronto is also #3 in goals against with a bunch of early goalie issue's.

They probably marked this one on the calender as a gimme like we did last night.

"We had some guys who came for a visit and not to try to win the hockey game. Very disappointing."

That says a lot about the mentality of the team. They are not all in. And the results currently back that up.

Won’t be able to see todays game but will be curious how they show against a top team.

Of the 27 games played, the majority have been hard to watch. Was not expecting that with this roster.

That's weak sauce.

Neal mailed it in and pouted, Huberdeau is stressed and handling the puck like a hand grenade.

I am not sure if he will be in the lineup but I feel like Huberdeau could use some speed on his line, so I would like to see a guy like Phillips up there if he draws in. Toffoli has no speed and no noticeable ability to one time a puck. He has a great shot and when he has time he can score but especially on the pp Huberdeau has found him multiple times cross seam and two seconds later Toffoli gets the shot off. But that line is incredibly slow and I don’t think it is because of Lindholm. Take Lucic out because the other giant looked good last night and move Toffoli down to the Lewis line.
