He is important in US circles and a great writer. The tweets you guys quote are from Americans.
But for the Qatari point of view, is he really important enough to kill over criticism that is not as bad as others? There's a lot of jumping to conclusions online.
He was complaining of bronchitis on his podcast. There's also been a flu going around, the TSN crews got it. It's just really sad that illness is serious and you can die suddenly from conditions or overwork.

Some of you have been reading too many Matata posts. Why go straight to the conspiracy theory? Why not apply Occam's razor? Sure it might be possible that he was killed by someone for his views, it's more possible and much more likely that he actually just died from illness.
Anyway in football news, Neuer broke his leg skiing after he left the world cup. He's now out for the rest of the season. Unconfirmed whether Qataris involved.

Interesting to see that Portugal was clearly pressing Morocco hard in their own end trying to test them. Morocco “passed” the test as they were able to break out multiple times. Now Portugal is dropping back and not pressing.
Morocco is good.
