Honestly a shootout in soccer is the only sport where it makes sense.
Penalties are a large part of the game and have been part of it forever.
The teams have played 120 minutes by that point too, so not like it needs to be longer

He was very critical of Qatar and got kicked out of one of the earlier matches for wearing a rainbow shirt. Wouldn't be even 1% surprised if it's foul play.

This is fishy for sure and a bit surprising that Qatar officials would potentially take out a high profile American.

Pretty hard right now not to think foul play, but we'll see how quickly see the body is transferred back to the US for an autopsy. Qatar aren't the Saudis so I don't think the Americans would let them get away with this like they did with Saudis and Khashoggi.

He literally just wrote an article yesterday highly critical of the scumbag Qataris. Definitely murdered. I would be shocked if anything came of it.

I have zero doubt qatar would have a critical journalist killed, I have some doubt they'd do it during the tournament, especially an American one
But like senator said, if there is any issues getting body back to the US it's going to say a lot

Yeah it would be incredibly brazen to do it now, and if they don't cooperate with the Americans it will put an even darker cloud over this sham of a tournament. And I cannot imagine FIFA want the last week of this to be about their culpability in this happening. But we'll see.

Just heard Sports Illustrated senior reporter Grant Wahl died while covering the World Cup. This is 48 days after he was detained for wearing an LBGTQ shirt in Qatar. No word yet on the cause of death, but his brother suspects foul play. #### Qatar
EDIT: I'm on Tapatalk, couldn't see the quoted Tweet before. Just a horrible situation, he was a great reporter.

Just now: Security guard refusing to let me into the stadium for USA-Wales. “You have to change your shirt. It’s not allowed.”

Poison maybe. There are many chemicals, particularly those found in pesticides that can cause chemical bronchitis.

If they don't walk out now this world cup is null and void and FIFA should be banned from hosting another world cup.
