My understanding is that he was never suspended or anything like that, so he is just considered a non-roster player and is still getting paid. Similar to how players take leaves of absence for bereavement or births, expect this one has been going for an extended period and may possibly be indefinite.
Yeah, he is definitely still getting paid. He is basically scratched.
I assume the Flames are not paying him his money. Are they? That would be crazy.
This opinion is hardly surprising coming from you, but I would like to go on record and say that I am actually pretty happy to know that the Flames are still paying Kylington's salary. God forbid they show a little bit of humanity to a guy struggling with a serious, life altering situation.

Actually I have seen very little speculation. Most seem to understand that it is likely very serious and if privacy is being asked for, it is being respect.
Sorry man you are wrong on this one.
Well! Lets fix that!

I think they found Oil under OK's house and he's the only one who can drill for it! For the Glory of Sweden!!

I hope that a few of the posters here realize how blessed they are that they haven't had to have gone through a difficult time in their life. That's the only excuse I can come up with for their lack of empathy for someone else's struggles/suffering.

He was taken Prisoner by The Hamburglar and Treliving refuses to pay the ransom!
Close. He's being held prisoner in a weird village with super-trendy decor from the late 1960s.
Interrogator: We want information.
Kylington: Whose side are you on?
Interrogator: That would be telling.
Kylington: Who are you?
Interrogator: The new Number Two.
Kylington: Who is Number One?
Interrogator: You are Number 58.
Kylington: I am not a number, I am a D-man!
Interrogator: *maniacal laughter*

Why do you feel the need to come up with an excuse for other posters? How patronizing.
The other side of this is this ridiculous push to virtue signal about Kylington's absence. "I don't care where he is and wish him best, I'm so much better than you!"

Thats like half of Sweden! That could be anywhere!
I think he stumbled onto a CIA black-site and is being interrogated until he spills his guts on how Daryl Sutter prefers his grilled cheese sandwiches.
Inquiring minds MUST KNOW!!

lol how is it virtue signalling? Flames management could have said report to camp or face contract termination. They didn't use that so either they are pretty sure he comes back at some point and want him on the roster or they are being a good organization and paying the player (or insurance is) as they struggle through something serious. Either of those is fine.
Why can’t we ask where he is and what’s wrong? He’s a public figure, after all. Hell, I’ll ask why a fellow employee isn’t at work and nobody gives me the whole, mightier than thou, superiority speech.
I love Steinberg, feel like he’s part of the community and a major role in the flames. But dude, don’t be so GD dramatic.

People can and did ask at training camp, and were told he's dealing with a personal matter and Treliving asked that we collectively respect his privacy.
If one of your coworkers was absent, and you asked where they were and your boss told you the coworker was dealing with a personal matter and asked everyone to respect their privacy, would you demand to know the specifics? That would be psychotic.

Maybe, except that would literally not happen in any other job. Not sure why you are being so dramatic

You can ask, but you’ve been asked to respect his privacy and not ask, so repeatedly asking anyway makes you look nosy, ignorant, and/or disrespectful.
Using your hypothetical, if a fellow employee took time off and your boss said “it’s private, let’s give them space, that’s all I’m going to say” and you kept saying “I don’t care if it’s private where are they” you’d just be being an #######.
Why is this difficult to understand for people?
