MoneyPuck has the Oilers at a hilariously low 26.4% chance of making the playoffs.
The Flames are at 79.1%.
Calgary is 10th in their power rankings, Edmonton is 24th, just behind Arizona.

Oh don't look now...... word is the Oilers are trying to bring in Erik Karlsson. What a group up there, completely absent from any reality.
- Karlsson would have to waive to go to Edmonton. He is not going to do that for two reasons. One, they are not a contender and two Evander Kane.
- San Jose would have to retain a significant portion of Karlsson's salary and in doing so Edmonton wouldn't be close to having the assets to make it work.
What would a deal look like, if I am San Jose I'm asking for..
Bouchard+Holloway+2023 1st+2023 2nd+Puljujarvi for Karlsson @ $2MM retained
or in reality I would ask,
Draisaitl for Karlsson @ $2MM retained

The Sharks are going to have to retain 50% to move Karlsson. The teams interested won’t have any cap space.
