Lucic is fine on the 4th line as long as he is hitting and getting pucks out. I don't care if he never scores again as long as he can be a physical force out there. I am really glad that contract is finished after this season though. I'd be fine keeping him near league minimum though, but I have a feeling that he just retires.

I just want an exciting game tonight. The team has been boring to watch in some of these last few games (minus Florida). Not necessarily expecting a win but some good value entertainment would be appreciated.

The issue I have with Lucic (and any 4th liners for that matter) is that even if their primary asset to the team is defense, or hitting, or leadership or whatever, they still need to score some goals once in a while. If you go weeks or months without scoring that just puts even more pressure on the other 3 lines.
Hopefully they can produce something, anything, tonight.

None of them huge. None of them first round picks.

Peters promoted them. Not Sutter.

No Sutter just moved Andersson up to the top pairing, Kylington up to the second pairing and both Dube and Mangiapane up to the second line.
Hates kids!

Except he bleeds chances against, turn overs galore and takes dumb penalties all the time. Can't wait for the contract to be done, and not re sign him. Sutter will continue to slot him in the middle 6 to prove a point if other guys have an off game and give him unnecessary minutes. Good locker room guy? Sure. Contributor on the ice? Not so much anymore.

exactly it it's dinasour mentality, we are built for 2004.
we honestly should be rebuilding/improving the 3rd and 4th lines, coleman should be a 4th line player lucic and rooney should be upgraded.

Sutter's been a dinosaur since the Flames first hired him in 2002. He's continually proved people wrong but that lazy tired and frankly dumb mentality continues

The Flames often have long winning streaks in the beginning of December.

I think Sutter's a really good "win now" motivator, but it's been shown time and again that he has a pretty short shelf life. 3 years is great, then move on.
But have we seen anything clever from him this year? It's so hard to judge, but I don't love the stuff he's said in media scrums, and I don't see anything but running out the re-treads for too much ice time.... but I don't know what the choice is either. I feel like the team is built to his spec more than Treliving's at this point. Heavy handed vets. And it's a super fast league where superstar talent wins, and there's just no "coaching" around that.

The King's players locked him out of the locker room after 2 cups that's tells you a lot about how quick his style can wear on a team even with that type of success.

Andersson was playing with Gio before Sutter got here so he was already top pairing. For the most part he didn’t really move Mangiapane either until Gaudreau and Tkachuk left and he kind of had to move him, he was top 6 with Backlund before Sutter got here regardless.
I’d say Dube’s usage has been similar before and after Sutter too. Ward had Dube playing with Tkachuk and Lindholm at times to start 20-21
Kylington is the one…and honestly it was a Hanifin injury and Andersson-Zadorov looking TERRRIBLE together that gave him the shot.
Sutter even resisted it to start last season until it was so obvious that Kylington-Tanev was the only choice.
And None of those are really examples of him promoting a new NHLer all likely had 80+ NHL games before Sutter
Ruzicka is a good example this year, pretty much a PPG and second he his play drops off his ice time is cut but Lucic can play like junk game after game and still dresses.
