Isn't one of the features of Twitter Blue that your responses get boosted?

I guess it will make people feel more pressure to buy, both because they'll see more people with it and feel like everyone else is doing it, and because they'll feel their responses aren't being seen as much without it.

European Commissioner Thierry Breton just joined Mastodon!
His first post, published right after a call with Elon Musk, made it clear that there is still huge work ahead for Twitter to comply with EU law:
1. Reinforce content moderation
2. Tackle disinformation
3. Implement transparent policies based on objective criteria (i.e., not via Twitter polls)
4. Limit targeted advertising
5. Prepare for an independent audit
Details here:
https://social.network.europa.eu/@EC...ssioner_Breton

Musk seems to be moving in the opposite direction on a lot of this, particularly around point #2.

I wonder do those EU laws apply to any online venue? Or just ones over a certain size?

It doesn't seem super specific on that.

What are Digital Services?
Digital services include a large category of online services, from simple websites to internet infrastructure services and online platforms.

The rules specified in the DSA primarily concern online intermediaries and platforms. For example, online marketplaces, social networks, content-sharing platforms, app stores, and online travel and accommodation platforms.
The Digital Markets Act includes rules that govern gatekeeper online platforms. Gatekeeper platforms are digital platforms with a systemic role in the internal market that function as bottlenecks between businesses and consumers for important digital services. Some of these services are also covered in the Digital Services Act, but for different reasons and with different types of provisions.

Oh wait...

The main criteria for the special regime to apply is a platform or search engine reaches more than 10% of the EU population or has more than 45 million users. Although the DSA allows the Commission some discretion in the information it can use to inform designations.

CP should be safe.

I assume those tweets are from Ye's account, apparently he posted a picture of a Star of David with a swastika in the middle.. then posted that picture of a pasty white Musk after (presumably) swimming getting hosed down by someone.

Musk banned Ye after that.

I mean this is all after Kanye appeared on infowars saying that everybody contributes something of value to society - even Hitler. And then professing that he liked Hitler, etc. etc. so it's really the tip of the iceberg. Now stories are coming out of his Hitler worship from the past several years.

Seems like a some influential people in black culture lately have been more vocal about their Anti-Semitism. Chappelle on SNL. Irving in the NBA, Ye.
seems like the normalization of racism in the US is coming out in all sorts of ways.

All of the grievances black americans have against white americans also apply to jewish americans. As american society gets more interested in addressing racial injustices of the past, eventually the "black & jew" angle was going to come up, as american jews have their own rich history of exploiting black americans.

1) Is American society “getting more interested in addressing racial injustices of the past”? I feel like race has literally always been a massive issue since the country’s formation and reliance on slavery, etc.

2) how did American Jewish people exploit Black people? This is news to me.

Wow, witnessing the rise of antisemitism in my lifetime. I naively thought my grandpa's generation had stamped that out of mainstream discourse.
