Flames with no finish. Markstrom the 2nd best goalie. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I can’t believe people were blaming Mangiapane in the game thread lol

All he did was hang off Anderson like a Koala and got a roughing penalty

Typical Flames - going to wait until the player has 0 to negative value before getting rid of them.

I am sure a team like the Kings can use him. Heck, send him to Edmonton.
Who would take him. He was bad two year ago, great last year and absolutely brutal this year. Hard to sell another team in a guy who is getting older and good 1/3 of the time.

2-5-1 when recording 40+ shots. That's amazing.

Goaltending was the story of that game. Markstrom is not making good decisions.

Also didn't go into the game thread and the game was sure more enjoyable.

Montreals 21 year old, 5’7” forward scored the game winner.

On the Flames he’s not even in the lineup based on how this coach and GM want to run things
I think Treliving wants to bring him up but knows Sutter won’t play him. Pretty clear who’s actually in charge of this team now.

No idea who to look for to score a big goal on this team. Losing two guys who combined for 82 goals is very, very evident on the ice. Their ability to put the puck in the net has not been replaced.

And the guy that scored 35 last year looks nothing like a goal scorer right now.
Three underachieving scoring forwards - Mangiapane, Huberdeau, Lindholm.

That's a lot of lost offense if those guys can't get going on a consistent basis. Really tough struggle to win a lot of games with so much offense MIA.

Markstrom blowing the 1st shot was the difference, sucks when the game is over on the 1st shot.

Retain 50% and see what you can get. I think there are still some GMs who might be dumb enough to think this is just a blip.

5-9-3 in their last 17. You don't go nearly a quarter of a season playing that poorly if you're a contender.

Just a flawed roster with terrible goaltending. Looking more and more like Trelivings Hail Mary is a bust. If they truly can't figure it out I really don't know where the Flames go from here.

It's hilarious how many people think Phillips is going to make a difference. The problem is not the personnel, it's the garbage system they're playing. They've reverted back to the "ring it around the boards and take low percentage shots" routine from the 20-21 season. It's slow, low percentage, game of attrition hockey. Adding Phillips is not going to change the fact that the Flames' assess are stapled to the boards and they never go to the high danger areas.

Which is painfully obviously the wrong decision, and quite frankly just stupid.

Sometimes you just have to eat your ego, Flames. Do the right thing for the team now… come on… it’s not that hard…

This is back to pre-Gaudreau Flames offence..

Agree that they aren’t going to high danger areas but I am highly suspect that is the system.

This is a young man’s league now. Call him up, you have nothing to lose.

Flames didn’t even play that bad, just that same lack of finish that shows up more often than not. But 13 seconds in with that goal? And the crazy thing is Markstrom has made that exact same “move” more than once now.

Can’t be doing that at the NHL level, play Vladar more until Markstrom gets his head in the game. Give him easy starts for a while.

This game was a textbook example of why Phillips should be on the team.

We don’t screen the goalie. As soon as someone shoots the puck everyone gets out of the way. Jake Allen could see every shot he faced tonight. Get Hanifin off the power play. Throw Zadorov out there instead and tell him to stand in front of the net. Dustin Byfuglien style

No one thought Ruzicka would be a difference maker until the team was pretty much forced to give him an extended audition

Now he’s a difference maker
