They have Wolfe in the minors. I think a 60/40 between Vladar and him would be fine. But that would require them making a tough decision on Markstrom that I don’t think they’re willing to do. They’re going to keep giving him rope.

The frustrating and confusing thing is that Markstrom hasn't just fallen off a cliff talent wise. He still has good to great games, but finds a way to take a steamy #### at almost a per-game pace and at the strangest times.

He's gotta get it figured out.

I never said to play Vladar 5 of 6. Find a post where I said that. I said in the PGT that playing him tonight is fine and I said here in the GT that as well. I just admitted as well he was going to suck because well he seems broken right now and that’s fairly obvious. And even if I had said that there is an argument that a short term total rest for Markstrom to regroup would be okay and Vladar could hold the ice for a week or two. Just because a goalie plays 6 games in a row doesn’t mean they will play every game the rest of the year.

Has Markstrom actually had a great game this year? He's made some great saves but I can't think of a single game where he was great for 60 minutes. 1/4 of the way through the season and yeah I haven't said "wow great game Markstrom" yet.

Goaltending in the NHL is largely a result of confidence and basically how much one believes in themselves. That’s why it is such a flakey position that comes and goes.

You know what doesn’t help goaltenders? Bronx cheers and fans being dicks. It’s also why Sutter gives him the start tonight and not Vladar because everyone would start questioning “who the guy is” which will make him feel even worse and question his own ability even further.

The best thing for Markstrom is for the fans and media to chill out. He will be fine. He is a great goalie.
