Was at the game on Tuesday and while I didn't participate in the booing of Chucky, I did understand and appreciate it. Chucky actually did the Flames a solid by admitting he wasn't going to sign long term and putting the Flames in a position to get a return (a damn good return) on their investment. Johnny..... different story.

Monahan is a completely different story. I hope there are zero boos for him. He is a complete class act and I wish we didn't have to trade him. I'm a fan of the trade and signing to bring in Kadri, but I miss Sean and wish him nothing but the best. I hope he has a killer season and then decides to sign back in Calgary for $2m a year (I know he won't). He should get a huge ovation, and if he does score, should get another one.

I'm actually really excited to see the reception Monny will get tonight. I think he gets something similar to Iggy imo. And I'll smile ear to ear and tear up a bit.

Tkachuk did himself a solid... it happened to work out for the Flames

No need to boo Monahan, nobody will IMO. He can save his points for the Oilers/Canucks though

Also true. I don't necessarily think he had altruistic motives to Calgary when he told them he would only sign for one year, however he at least was honest and gave Calgary the opportunity to do something. Unlike another, much shorter jackass.

In any event, go Monahan. Have a good (but not great) game, and get setup to destroy Edmonton and the Nucks.

There should absolutely not be a single person booing Monahan at any point. Anybody who does should turn in their fan card.

Class act from start to finish, on and off the ice, a true ambassador for the Flames and NHL.

Of all the big 5 who left recently (Brodie, Gio, Monahan, Tkachuk, Gaudreau), Monahan was probably the "lesser" of all those players, yet is the one I miss the most.

Glad to see him doing well in Montreal and hopefully gets a Masterson nomination.

Every time I feel down about not having Monahan around any more, I remind myself that we paid a 1st to get rid of him so I can feel even worse.

Play "no excuses" hockey.

They aren't on a "too long" homestand and need to go out on the road. They aren't on a long road trip out East. This isn't the first game back after a long road trip.

ETA: Wherever Montreal sits in strength of schedule.

I'm probably missing the obvious joke, but in that pic wasn't he like the only Canadiens coach to not speak French?

Admittedly it's about as close to proper French as the Habs are to the cup.

I don't think sportsnet has been getting memos on when tributes are, or they're not paying attention to arena notes or something. They missed the Huberdeau and Weegar tributes in Florida and just caught the very end of the Tkachuk tribute in Calgary, and really that's just because it was still going after the scheduled commercials.

Usually, broadcasts will state "Normally, we'd go to commercial now, but there's a special tribute to (insert player here)". Or something along those lines.

I hope the crew is more on it tonight, as I really don't want to miss this tribute. But Sportnset never ceases to amaze me in new, incompetent ways.

We need some sort of chant tonight telling him to come back here in July.

COME! HOME! SEAN!

WE! WANT! MONNY!

DONT! SIGN! A! CONTRACT! WAIT! UNTIL! YOU'RE! A! FREE! AGENT! AND! THEN! SIGN! IN! CALGARY!

Any of those or similar should work.

...and then someone will boo you, and then someone will boo that person, and the someone will boo that person... and then before you know it, the whole crowd is booing every time Monny touches the puck and no one even knows why.

Smack them upside the head, jersey them, punch them in the gut, then replace their jersey with an orange and blue one and kick them out the back door.
