I had always heard that when Atlanta made that subtle change to the current striping, that they were inspired by the FDNY truck livery.

In other news, received my Huberdeau reverse retro today. Great looking jersey, but that seam halfway up is just brutal, as it affects the fit of the jersey compared to my other Adidas jerseys. It seems to fit true to other jerseys down to that seam, but from there seems to flare out. A bit of an exaggeration but kind of feels like an anorak jacket with the waist band tightened slightly.

Does anyone know where one could take a reverse retro and get it numbered/crested before Christmas?

Great Plains Cresting up by Deerfoot City.

They do all the work for the Flames and CGY Team Store and are great to work with.

$100/jersey.

I actually really, really like the main logo on the pedestal jersey. It may be my own mid 90s kid nostalgia getting in the way, but I think I prefer the new reverse retro to Blasty.

IMO put the new reverse retro C on the front of the Blasty jersey, and put Blasty up on the shoulders, 2004 style. Then baby, you got a stew goin!

This would be fire.

The white C with yellow outline on black is a super good look.

Agreed.

Give the name and number on the back the same yellow-only trim treatment as the crest, get rid of the pedestal lines, put the lower stripes on or closer to the actual hem (even keep the red shoulders and arms) and I think it would be a pretty good black third jersey.

Full gear with a logo guess on the helmet. They might use "FLAMES" tomorrow. We'll see.

One thing I don't understand with many Flames jerseys is that the striping patterns don't match the other stripes on the same jerseys. In my opinion, this was worst on the cowboy shoulder Calgary-wordmark thirds. Just didn't match at all.

Looking at these black pedestal jerseys, why does it go white-black-yellow-red on the cummerbund part of the jersey and the socks, then goes yellow-black-white-black-red on the sleeve, and then red-yellow-black-white on the pants? If you were designing a jersey you would think you would want this to match or maybe be inverse in different parts, but not be so all over the place. Maybe I'm missing something.

For the Blasty's, it annoys me that they added more white in places (mostly by using the white C's on the shoulders compared) compared to the originals. But they took away the white striping. So now the pedestal pants also don't match the jerseys because they have an white in the striping pattern that is gone from the jersey and socks.

There's been a big improvement since the flag jerseys and wordmark thirds, but this kind of inattention to detail is still an issue.

Edit: My list of colours in striping is probably super hard to read without looking up at the image posted by TheRealPepman.

These look so much better on the team than I thought they would. Great setup.

Blasty black jerseys (original or reverse retro) have never had white striping.

yeah that's me too.

I thought they were a little busy when they came out, and that seam looked pretty sketchy.

But with the helmets, pants, glove and pants they look pretty sharp.

The team looks a lot bigger in the black as well.

Pretty sure I like them more as a change than loving them on their own, but not as gaudy as I expected them to be.

I thought the jersey looked pretty ugly by itself admittedly, but with the numbers and the whole kit it looks great. Maybe more as a change, like you said. One of the things I liked most about watching them last night is how unique they looked compared to any other uniform in the NHL right now.

I love the home/away but I really see what the people who love black in the uniforms are talking about. Both the blasty kits and these look great and tough.

I like them better than the Blasty. They looked great on the ice. Honestly, if you just had horizontal stripes on the base of the jersey itself and removed the diagonal pedestal, you wouldn't really have anything to complain about with the jersey.

These black jerseys (along with blasty) look way more heavy metal than the reds. Team looks bigger and meaner. Wish they could change full time honestly.

I'd love to see the black version of the classic reds ... same striping and white C
