Had my credit card skimmed at the Nose Hill Drive Petro station last week (I'm pretty sure at least). Noticed 3 DoorDash charges within a 24 hour span and I don't use DoorDash so I called CIBC and they cancelled my Visa and were sending me a replacement.

Found out apparently whoever had added my stolen CC number to their DoorDash account just automatically had the number updated to the new one without any confirmation required or security measure in place...!? WTF.

Haven't even received the new card in the mail to activate it, but apparently it's automatically usable for pre-authorized vendors and mobile banking or something.

Only found out because I checked my online banking and the old deactivated card suddenly has 5 new pending DoorDash charges attributed to the new number.

Had to call in again and explain the issue. I *think* they went ahead and specifically deactivated my old CC from the DoorDash vendor, which shockingly didn't happen after the first 3 fraudulent charges. Either someone ####ed up or the system in place does almost nothing to stop theft.

The bolded is accurate. As a convenience they will keep updating the number for the fraudsters to use. You should definitely watch carefully, but it's definitely possible the only solution is to close the account and open a new one at a different bank.

Yes, Desert Pita still exists on 52nd by the soccer center.

A few blocks north there is a new donair/shawarma place and I think they are the same owners. Business must be good.

Drives me nuts when a company has a minimum purchase price for free shipping and then ships the packages individually if you have multiple items in the order.

Why does it seems like there is an explosion of polyester clothing recently? Is it because it is cheap and fits well into the "fast fashion" sphere? I thought I should look into the sales happening right now for some new polos and there are an overwhelming amount of polyester polos. I stopped buying polyester quite a while ago because it makes me stink and I stick with natural fibres like cotton. But finding cotton polos seems to have become much more difficult now.

When my card got compromised the security guy said they need to check the accounts for “tokens”. These allow the biller to bill the new card with the old information. They had to cance the card and then cancel each individual token on the suspect charges. This was with Mastercard

What’s funny is that none of the payments I used updated like this automatically so has to deal with updates and missed payments.

The construction on 9th ave around 11th st SW is absolutely ruining the ability of basically everyone who comes downtown from the northwest or west side of the city to actually get in to work. Unreal that it's allowed to just sit there obstructing half the lanes for months.

Yup, you answered your own question. Polyester costs half what cotton does.

Don't those 2 quadrants have LRT lines? Are they blocked, too?

Yup. August until the end of the year. It has been a real pain.

I drive in about 10 days a month when I have to. I take transit a lot. It doesn't reduce the degree to which ill-considered construction that blocks an important entry point to the core grinds my gears.

OK, but then it isn't "basically everyone", it's people who choose to drive on that particular road.

"Basically everyone" is clearly hyperbole, but I think the point is that that particular road affects "basically everyone" who drive DT from the Northwest/West (and I would add a bunch from the SW). There are not many alternative routes, and that is demonstrated by the absolute cluster in the mornings.

It's a gear grinder. No more, no less.

But as he said, that particular road is essentially the road for the majority of commuters from the NW and west side.

I thought it was pretty obvious that the "basically everyone" meant people who drive. As I understand it, drivers are typically the ones most affected by road closures.

And why only bring up LRT? What about people that walk? Cycle? Take a chopper?

I live by MRU, which doesn't have an LRT line anywhere nearby, unless you're suggesting I should drive at least 10-15 minutes in precisely the opposite direction of my office to take the C-Train into downtown.

As an aforementioned chopper-taker this construction doesn’t impact me at all, so I feel Corsi’s complaint is, as usual, invalid.

If he'll chip in for gas I don't mind him hopping on my skiff and we can just blast up the Bow River.
