I’m not liking the makeup of this team. Simply not enough offensive talent. Also the head coach seems to be going out of his way to keep offense down with his line deployment.

His fault, not the Flames. He did zero in training camp.

He didn't look good, but he wasn't really given a chance to look good playing with Sutters pets.
Good to see Sutter reward Lewis with a promotion to the top line.

He would not do that here though, would be getting less minutes than Lewis and Lucic.

Was he given a proper chance? No

Maybe they should have played the tryouts in training camp with good players and not with the dregs. Iirc Milano had a random mix of line mates in the preseason here and maybe one game with top six players? I think Sutter set him and Phillips up to fail with who he paired them with in the preseason since they’re not his style of players.

Not counting EN goals that’s 2 goals in the last 8 periods. Not exactly a recipe for success. Pathetic

Too much low danger shot with no traffic or rebounds. Another sub .900 game from Markstrom.
Be it line combos or not enough speed and skill that pretty much sums it up.

Monahan out producing Huberdeau is not ideal. Hopefully he starts producing

He must be playing with superstars like Trevor Lewis and Blake Coleman.

This team is so stubborn. They keep thinking they are better than the rest of the league in finding talent in obscure places.
Ovechkin, generational first overall player. Malkin the number two pick behind him. Crosby. Generational number one pick.
This team needs top end talent. Huberdeau is good but not elite. Product of a high impact center m, a number two overall pick. Our higest pick is reviving his offensive game in Florida. I really think Calgary needs to move on from Boston Pizza. Bring someone in and stick to a real miserable tank. I’d rather watch a bunch of kids play than these mercurial vets.
Lindy looks pretty average, certainly nothing special.
Kadri has lost his honey moon swagger.
Is it darryle sutter? I think he could be really losing the room. They don’t look like they are gelling at all.
Sad effort. On to tomorrow where a hurricane blitzkrieg is waiting for us. That speedy team is gonna give us fits. But watch us eek it out.

we have already seen what 3rd line deployment did to hold back the production of a player like Bennett
I guess now we're learning old lessons all over again . except the player costs 10.5M

Oh I know. It just kinda sucks to see guys who didn't work out on the Flames produce for other teams

Also if Sutter wants to play early 2000s hockey he better have a Kipper quality goalie backing things up to get those 3-2 and 2-1 wins. If this team had a decent starter the Flames would be boring and such but would be solidly in the playoffs. But this falls apart if you don’t have a goalie who can stop at a .910+ rate.

I'm way less miffed over Milano than I am about zary and phillip's speedy demotions (in favor of f***ing rooney)

It's not the losses for me, it's the way they play in most of their losses that I hate

Flames have next to nothing in terms of salary cap space
A callup would be extremely difficult.

They actually have more than enough right now to recall a player making league minimum.

Enough of Sutter, yes like Torts and other dinosaurs soemtimes the stars align and they win a Cup, but they just suck the life out of a team with their coaching. It's just a horribly boring product to watch
