There was a book in legends EU called Death Troopers about an experiment to build super storm troopers, but instead it reanimated dead flesh and created zombie troopers. You had a bunch of rebels including Han and Chewie iirc that were trapped on the ship being pursued by these zombies. It was actually a well written horror novel.
It was a good book but I didn't like it because it felt like Star Wars was trying to capitalize on the "zombie craze" and I hated that idea.

I mean the other horror story idea was the fate of the Clone Troopers as they got to old to serve and they were surgically transplanted into cyborg bodies, and then went insane when they realized what they had become.

Rogue Squadron is the Star Wars show I want to see more than anything else. Give me Wedge Antilles and the red group. Let Tony Gilroy write it after Andor finishes season two. No jedi, just ace pilots and x-wing vs tie fighter dog fighting. Make. It. Happen!

Well then blame Patty Jenkins for whatever the hell WW1984 was.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
It's just crazy how of all the new content since SW was bought by Disney, the Saga feature films are by far and away the crappiest thing they produced.
Maybe after some time away Bob Iger realizes they are #### and retcons them. Gives Hamill a blank cheque to come back and finish off the saga properly.

I dont know if I'd even take that. I think that era of the Saga is dead.
I dont think there is a Brinks truck in the world big enough to con Ford into coming back, Williams cant stand anymore and Fisher has passed. Can you re-do the whole thing with just Hamill and some rando in a Chewbacca suit?
Disney should take some of their own advice and just let it go....let it go...make something else, let Skywalker go...

I'm actually playing through TIE Fighter again right now (it's still awesome), and a few missions have you needing to take out or protect an Interdictor since it is trapping craft in the area.
WHAT?! How?

After thinking about it I think I'm ok with leaving everything post-Skywalker as an empty box. The empire is dead, the republic is dead, the sith and jedi are gone, realistically the galaxy goes back to local government groups and it's a long time before you get back to any kind of galaxy sprawling conflict. But there's still thousands of years of history in the Star Wars universe that's barely been explored. I really hope the High Republic series is good and convinces Disney to do more stuff far removed from the OT timeframe

I'd assume that minus the empire you'd start to see people rediscover the Jedi/Sith ways. It was a massive population, with lots of not so tightly controlled pockets. Presumably, the Empire would suppress any open discussion of non-Empire religion, but once they were gone a lot of the hidden knowledge would come back to the surface.

I have two arguments about that.
If you look at the GFFA every war was pretty well rooted in the Force and the conflict of the Dark and the Light. With the Jedi wiped out , and the Sith wiped out. There might be generations of peace but eventually the Jedi and Sith would come back to serve the balance of the Force.
Without a strong central government in the GFFA there would literally be war without end between the different species. Between the resource rich outer rim and the industrial strong inner rim. There would be galaxy crushing grudge matches that would drag other species in like for example the ongoing war between Rookies and Tandoshans. You could argue that Palpatine kind of had the right idea. That a galaxy with that many species and that level of population couldn't be governed by a democracy because the power of that democracy would be higher in the Inner rim then the lightly populated outer ring. And we saw in TPM that when one member Trade Federation attacked another, Naboo. That the Galactic Senate couldn't take decisive action without studies and commissions.

I would love to see a pre Old Republic series. I mean the Force Wars where the Jedi split alone could be very cool.
Even the founding of the Plus Dea religious fantatics that took over the republic and had their own kind of inquisition to purge the galaxy of what they saw as heretics was a cool story as well.
Even a movie trilogy around Darth Bane or even Revan would be amazaballs.
