I will stop if we actually win a game where Markstrom has a save percentage above .900 and we don’t give up three leads.
i'm happy with wins, it doesn't really matter how they do it, if we can squeak into the playoffs regular season stats mean nothing.
At what point do we say the team defense needs to better and stop giving 15 grade a chances especially when the other team isn't getting a lot of shots? because letting in 1 bad goal every 3 games is not why the stats are so bad.

Flames have played 14 of their 17 games against these top teams and came out 8-9. I'm fine with it. Hold serve against the top teams and beat up on the bottom teams, you'll make the playoffs.
Still waiting for both Huberdeau and Weegar to be more impactful.
Both have been average defensively, and huge disappointments offensively.
Weegar made a good defensive play on a in-tight 2 on 1, but then left 2 Panthers alone in the slot on the 3-3 goal.
Huby was hard on the forecheck leading to the Coleman goal and as usual a couple other flashes but still not nearly enough for someone as talented as him.
Not sure that's fair to Weegar, he's 15th in xGF% and 17th for defenseman in xGA60.
When the puck doesn't go in the points aren't there, but with metrics like that he's getting it done.
This whole team is going to pop and many on the outside are going to pin it on something irrelevant ... when to me it will be evening out percentages.
Yeah I'm sure he's a player who has great advanced stats. I just expected more of a noticeable impact, especially offensively. Meanwhile it's always easier to spot a defensive mistake I guess.

Plus, him and Huberdeau were always going to struggle going from a run and gun team to Darryl Sutter. Give it more time man, these guys will flourish once they're comfortable and up to speed with Sutter hockey.

He’s not a flashy player but he’s a super effective player that drives play to the opponents side of the rink, and I’ll take that every day of the week over they flashy guy.
Based on his on ice xGF, GF, and shot contributions he should probably have more like 6 or 7 points at 5v5, which would be top 30 for points at 5v5 by a dman.
I don't think Zadorov quietly having his best season is unrelated to playing with Weegar
No doubt.
I give Zadorov full credit for his next-level play, which is largely driven by confidence, IMO. However, having a great partner certainly helps. Situation matters a great deal for defensemen, and having a guy like Weegar as your partner, is obviously a positive, and can only help him.
I'd like to see more of Weegar in all situations. Strikes me as the kind of guy that raises his level of play when he's elevated, thrives with responsibility.
Giving him top PP minutes would be an experiment I'd like to see, as his instincts jump off the page for me yet, to me, have been underutilized. Effectively, give him every opportunity to be our #1 and I think he will thrive.
