I'm not sure about 90% are essential. I suspect they may have staffed up a bit through the pandemic as their user base grew. I also suspect they did very little to cut waste since Musk announced his takeover, as there wasn't any incentive to do that. I wouldn't be surprised if, through intelligent review, Twitter would be just fine at 50% of pre-Musk staff. Unfortunately that's not what Musk did.

Why is it people have somehow been convinced Twitter polls are some form of Democracy? They are not. Hell, Musk spent the past 6 months saying how many bots are on there. Anyone with a functioning brain also knows Russia is interfering with American democracy through things just like this. Yet somehow, there is no end to the suckers out there who hold this up as something we should acknowledge?
I'll say it again, since apparently it needs to be said, Twitter polls are not scientifically useful. Any pollster will tell you that. Stop pretending their results matter.
Also, stop giving Musk the twisted idea that this is democracy, and that his platform can somehow have a say in it, because that's where he is going with this.

Musk is not mentally well. He needs someone to step in and help him. Some time in a hospital may be good for him. He hasn't been right since he smoked weed on Rogen's podcast. Something has snapped for him.
