Apparently he's reinstated Jordan Peterson. I'm actually pretty excited for this news because watching JP routinely self-destruct on twitter is a guilty pleasure.
I think I heard Danielle Smith was a recent guest on his show.
Not a huge fan of the Mastadon experience so far. I mean, it's nice in that the people who use it mostly seem to be people who are just into sharing their hobbies and are chill, but it's also relatively boring. Also, I don't like the idea that if the server you're on goes down your entire history on the network goes down with it. Why would anyone want to build a sizable brand on there unless they own and control the server they're on?

From what I had read, you can move your profile/data between servers.
But ya, it will depend on servers run by someone. Which is good and bad. But there is no reason a corporation couldn't run their own Mastadon server, and still federate to the network.

You could move your data if you have notice of it in advance, but if someone operating your server just decided to take it offline, or they didn't maintain it and just let it crash/die, that could be the end of your entire posting history. That's not a particularly attractive set up.

Like I said, there are tradeoffs to this model. That doesn't sound like all that bad a trade off. I'm sure you could automate downloading your profile, should that be a big concern. I think for most people it wouldn't be the end of the world to lose that picture of lunch from 6 years ago.
If there is money to be made in a similar platform I expect one of the big tech players will launch something. This assumes that its worth the monitoring headaches and that a path to profitability exists.

I suspect we will go through a couple of weeks more of the Musk #### show and then he will sell it off at a huge loss
Admit defeat and/or a mistake? I dont think you've been following this all that closely.
The guy is going to go into the Earth in flames.
I hope so but I suspect he will find some excuse to walk away, 'Space X requires my full attention as humanities future lies in the stars and I am the only person that can save you lazy ingrates'
For those hoping for a new platform saviour...personally my feeling is that any social media platform that scales enough to effectively replace Twitter will turn into the exact same mudslinging sh*tshow we have now...because while the platform may change, the people won't. You'll have the same factions and the same arguments, but in a new UI and color scheme. And if it's big enough to have societal impact or make money, it too will be run (or bought out) by a mega corp, a narcissistic billionaire, or government-like entity. What successful media company isn't?
Just save yourself the time and trouble, and embrace the circus.

Just unfollow the idiots, stick to sports / news people you trust, and you're good to go. On that front Twitter is amazing.
I honestly enjoy Flames content quite a lot more if I see it on Twitter. Even here in CP it gets buried in some page in some thread. But I know if I want to know what Darren Hayes has to say, I can find everything on Twitter.

It just occurred to me that I don't actually know what Musk's voice sounds like, and I've been reading his tweets in the voice of that 80s guy from Futurama.
