Not trolling just an observation, the team looks disjointed and slow. Yes the Oilers are also struggling but playing good hockey still... plus McD and Drai will put the team on their back again.

The difference between.900 and .878 would be 10 goals on the season. 10 goals!
That would go a long way.

Flames played decently. Not well, but decently.
They need to play well. Decision-making is poor; lots of chances but pucks thrown away in the offensive zone too often. Zero pressure. Tampa is a good team, but they can and have been beaten. But the way the Flames played tonight NEVER had the feeling of a Flames win.
At best it felt (for 10 seconds) like they might be able to hang on for a point.
Way too much scrambly hockey and way too many poor players on the ice. This is a GM problem to solve.

can't really fully blame marky when the boys can't score more than 1 goal that isn't good enough

Also, at what point does the team look at moving Kylington to LTIR? Yes he has the right to be away from the team for as long as he needs to and have everyone respect his privacy. But, at some point, the team also has the right to mitigate the effect that his absence is having on the team.
Moving him to LTIR would open up the opportunity to call up someone from the Wranglers, would it not?

Gotta admit though, that was the absolute worst time to flub a weak shot from the blue line. Mike Smith would be proud of that one.

McDavid is on pace for 77 goals and they are one game above .500 lol

Yeah but reduces the opportunity to accrue cap to add at the deadline. Flames seem to want to avoid LTIR at all costs.
The Flames have the cap space to call up Matthew Phillips right now if they want, I think Treliving just knows that Sutter won’t play him anyways.

Lots of blame to go around in this one.
Lost the high danger chance game by a wide margin.
The offense got lots of zone time and low danger shots, but that's it. Nothing that scared their goaltender.
Defense gave up prime chances a lot. Plenty of bad turnovers in the first half of the game that made no sense to me.
I would have been happy with Markstrom, but that 3rd goal against was inexcusable. I could save that and I haven't been on skates in years.
You have to wonder what the #### is up with the mental state of this team. Something seems really wrong, and I don't definitively know what it is, but I suspect changes are coming soon.

Sutter even said game was lost in the trenches. It's nice he understands why we lost but maddening he keeps these ridiculous lines because of his boys and champions.

Which is weird because I thought he was actually very good in all 3 zones tonight. One of the better players for the Flames.
Bizarre.
You have to wonder how Sutter sees his team right now. It's not what I'm seeing.

One goal. And not nearly enough from some of their supposed scorers. I don't remember Eat Bread or Dube doing much of anything. These lines ain't working.

Agree the lines are not working at all. But you can't ignore the fact that the Flames were pushing, scored a goal to get within 1 and Markstrom immediately let in a goal that we would mercilessly chirp my rec goalie for allowing.
Flames didn't deserve to win, but we have no clue how things play out if Markstrom makes that save.

Even Millen pointed it out and said stats can sometimes be deceiving. The Flames got a lot of shots but not very many were good scoring chances.

I think this really hits a nail on the head, I believe Markstrom would play much better if the Flames were scoring more. I know we got some goals in the Kings game but it's hard for the team and the lack of goals causes the whole team to play a with a different mindset. Instead of playing confident they are playing to not make a mistake, no one seems to have the confidence that someone's going to step up and score so they tend to give up a little easier. You just knew the Chucky and Johnny and Lindholm line we're going to find a way to get it done and if they didn't someone else could usually chip in.
The Flames should really find a way to add some scoring even if it's from the farm. My guess is if they wait too long trying to fix this it's going to be too late. I'm not sure why Sutter is relying much I'm grinders, it's not like they're going to drag us back into the game.

Lewis with 16 minutes tonight while Rosie got just 12. Baffling to me.
