And now I'm tired of looking at anti-Semitic remarks around a twitter poll.
There's more but I can't be arsed to keep staring into the abyss.
This doesn't include all the big anti-vax celebs that quote-tweeted it.

I agreed with mask mandates at the early stages of the pandemic, but at this point, I think COVID is just a part of life and you can't have perpetual mask mandates. Same thing as vaccine mandates. It was good that the government did the best they could to compel people to get vaccinated, but at this point, it's probably not going to have much more effect.

A twitter poll is worse than meaningless. It starts with selection bias and goes downhill from there.

Well first of all, I had no idea about anti-Semitic connections and things like that, and pretty clearly that wasn’t my point at all. I’ll say that 100% was not my intention.
You’re right though, I’m too lazy to dig into these things because I’m done with Covid. I’ll wear a mask if need be and things like that, but I’m not getting way into the weeds discussing these things. I’m not doing piles of research about Twitter polls (or any other polls for the matter). It’s part of life now and there’s not much we can do about that.

If 60-70% of people were clamoring for mask mandates you would see more than a token person here or there with a mask on at the grocery store. No one’s stopping the 60-70% from wearing masks.

It would require exceptional circumstances for a majority of people to clamor for a change that requires extra effort in our daily lives. That shouldn't be how we decide on public health policy measures though.

It kind of seems like you were wanting and willing to get into it until the thing you used to make your point turned out to be a mocked poll that attracted international attention in rigging by bad actors.

Agreed, ‘exceptional circumstances’ should be required as a prerequisite for any health mandates ever.
Novel virus we didn’t know much about and didn’t have a vaccine for that had a CFR rate of 1-2%, sure exceptional. In 2020/2021 the phrase was ‘it’s not just the flu . . .’ and for the most part the sentiment about that was correct. Now it literally is the flu and we’re talking about mask mandates and ‘other tools.’ Sorry, but mask mandates are a gateway drug to lockdowns, school closures and other things that are simply unacceptable in free societies anytime post-Covid vaccine.

A confluence of three major infectious diseases pushing ER wait times to 10-15 hour averages is pretty much the definition of "exceptional circumstances"

I went grocery shopping with my wife this afternoon. The checkout clerk was wearing a mask and the Karen in front of us started giving her static about it- how the mask itself was a killing machine! Wife and I both spoke immediately in support of the clerk’s rights and almost created a scene.
I should have posted this in gear grinders but they weren’t taking calls.

Kind of related but not; If you can spend 10- 15 hours waiting in emergency it’s not an emergency….
Are parents taking their kids to emergency with coughs, colds and flus again? Why???

Are you suggesting if someone doesn't die and "made it" 10-15 hours that it wasn't an emergency?

I trust the decision on whether mask mandates should be revived has nothing to do with whether "people are clamouring" for it or not. Most people understand that sometimes, even as adults, we have to endure minor inconveniences when there is a collective benefit to doing so.

Well I suppose if you consider me having recalled a poll as research and my assertion that people aren’t interested in mask mandates, guilty as charged. But that’s not really a lot of effort on my part. I didn’t know if garnered international attention, and didn’t realize everything surrounding that poll though.
I’m bored of Covid though. It’s here to stay and that’s just what it is. The only people I hear about Covid from are the two polarized sides though. The anti mask/antivax side and the mask mandate/health restriction side. It’s mind-numbing and I was so hoping we could just move along and live our lives by this point.

I apologize for the rudely toned post. It was born out of genuine frustration with the prospect of being compelled to wear a mask again. I had forgotten how passionate people are on the other side of this issue and am not comfortable facing the personal attacks.
