Also nobody my age does it. All grandparent aged. Including people she’s never met… how can you have so little self awareness? You weren’t intimidated/hate it when older people would touch you or guilt you into a hug or something when you were a child? It’s literally a trope in movies that older people pinch/kiss grandkids (unrelated “aunts” included) without consent. The entitlement is incredible. I’m going to start getting very direct about this in the moment.

As a 50 yr old man I hate when people want to hug and kiss me every time they see me.
The best thing for my relationship with my MIL, was I told her that it just isn't my jam.

As a 49 year old man, I can't remember the last time anyone wanted to hug or kiss me when they saw me.

Yeah I don't even like other people's kids really. I don't want to tickle little kids, or hold babies, or really even be around them. I love my own kids and do all those things but get your gross goobers outta here.

Even if a guy does have a family, touch starvation is a growing problem among men and folks are starting to realize it's actually a serious problem.

Maybe more of a minor gear grinder that bothers me more than it should, but I hate it when you have to call someone, leave a detailed message about who you are and why you called, then later they call back and just say; "Yeah, you're the one who called me.. what?". Like, did you check your message dip####?
And the tone of their voice is usually all grumpy like you made some transgression by calling them. Like dude, you own a phone, have a phone number, and a job or position that requires people you don't know to call you sometimes. No need to get all offended because someone had to call you.

I could rant and rave about phone messages for all of eternity.
I suppose it was inevitable that in the age of email and texts that people would forget how voicemails operate.
But....in a business setting, they're important. Granted, I'm not in a position where voicemails are time critical or anything, but I get at least a few of these a week:
"Hey Locke its me, I have a question for you, call me back!"
Uh huh. Who are you? Whats your name? Whats your phone number? Nature of the question? Like give me something here.

People who put their feet up on chairs, chair backs, benches, etc. At a hockey game, at the theater, I see it all the time. Filthy animals.
I would love to know what goes on in their mind as they brush dog####, road grime and mud onto surfaces people sit on.

Voicemails are a pain only if they the archaic phone-in system to check the messages. Press 1 to hear this, press 2 for menu, press 8 to delete. Wtf is this, visual voicemail has been a thing for like a decade. It should be the standard included option on all phone plans by now.

"Who the #### are you?" is gear grinder 1 for phone messages for me.
Gear grinder 2 is, "I spoke to someone in your office and it should be sorted now."
It usually repeats to gear grinder 1 of Who the #### are you? and I'm not the person you spoke with, why the #### are you miffed I'm not telepathic and I have to ask for a moment to read the notes on the file to get caught up to speed?
It got way worse during the pandemic.

As a Canadian who lived in the USA, it is a culture shock to see people walk around their own homes in their outdoor shoes.
When I eventually bought a place, I replaced the carpets.

Oh yeah, you got to love the 2-minute slow ramble followed by the accelerated number mumble. Then you have to listen to the entire message again to catch the number. Fortunately with call display that is less of an issue these days, but still annoying and can still be an issue with extensions that don't show up on call display.

why do some people talk to me while I'm on my break with my air pods in . how can you be a sales person yet fail to be observant enough to notice I'm not paying attention to you and preoccupied ? some people prance around expecting to have peoples ears at all times . you are not the center of attention outside of your home esoecially while im off the clock
ps your bubbly attention seeking mannerisms are not as endearing as you think they are
pps if you're being ignored don't start belting notes out loud like a **** . are you 5 years old
ok thank you

I represent the people on the other side.
For the first point, a detailed voice message can take a couple of minutes to get through, sometimes things get dropped or are unclear, and usually get duplicated anyways when I call back, so listening to the message is an annoying waste of time.
I also find phone calls that are out of the blue annoying. Usually I'm focused on something, meeting with a colleague, and an unexpected call feels like you're demanding my time & feels like there's no consideration that you might be interrupting what I'm doing. A quick IM, text, or email is common courtesy now, as they can be easily ignored until one is at a good stopping point to chat. Letting a phone call ring is more disruptive, and flushing your call will result in an immediate call back.
