He's losing his mind because he did the math and realizes that Messi is going to pass his UCL goal record. It's basically the last thing he cares about at this point.

What is it that you think United have done and not handled well?

Honestly if they were going to have him on the bench and not use him frequently then they should have worked harder to facilitate a move, even if it meant paying some of his wages.
Keeping him when he wanted to go, and then not playing him, was always going to end up with him being malcontent.
Ronaldo has handled this terribly this season, but honestly Man U let it get to this point.

I really don't get the "well they should have let him go" voices.
There. were. no. suitors.
Plain and simple. There was no club out there willing to take him on and pay his wages. It's not like there were tangible offers and United slammed the door on those ... nope, his agent aggressively shopped him around Europe for weeks, but all he got was "thanks, but no thanks".

They didn't keep him. As devo says, there were zero suitors.
Have you considered that Ronaldo could have offered to rip up the contract for say half the money which might have made him more attractive?
This is not a trying to offload him or get him out on loan scenario. United wanted his services for the season. Ronaldo wanted out.
So, basically you're saying United handled this badly by not offering to pay a chunk of his wages to facilitate him holding them to ransom yet at no time did we hear of him offering to void/renegotiate the contract for less money to make a move more possible?
The main barrier to him moving was his wages. Why should United be paying a chunk of that when they wanted to keep him?
Again. They weren't resistant to letting him move on. No one wanted him.

I am and they would do it to avoid exactly what is happening right now.
It was entirely predictable that Ronaldo would act like this if A) He wasn't able to leave to play CL football, and B) He ended up not being a big part of the team's plans and was relegated to substitute/cup duty.
Whatever debacle this season has going on now, and not making the CL again would cost Man U a lot more money than covering $100k a week of Ronaldo's wages would have.
And personally I'm not sure Ten Hag really ever wanted to keep him to use him.
There were rumors that Ronaldo was willing to take a 30% pay cut (although who know is that's true). Problem being that $350k a week is probably still too much. But if Man U was willing to eat $100k of that, then he's probably moveable at $250K per week. This is all just an assumption but if I'm Man U the second he wants out and is acting like he's not going to be happy there then you should have tried harder to support a move.

I'm game to rag on United at almost any opportunity, but I dont think theres a whole lot they did wrong here.
The only thing I can remotely think of is that initially I believe they wanted him 'gone gone' in that they didnt want to be paying him and they wanted to recoup some of their transfer fee that they paid Juve.
I vaguely recall that at some point United indicated that they'd let him go for free, voiding a transfer fee, but they didnt want to pay his wages. Any of it.
Which isnt unreasonable. Any percentage of £500k/week for a player not playing for you is a lot.
At the end of the day the responsibility for not finding a suitor has to rest with Ronaldo and his agent. His wages are outrageous for a player of his age, attitude and ability. Nobody wants to toss that grenade into their squad or wage structure for the meager returns that Ronaldo brings.
As for United? They should have let him rot at Juve and stew in Turin on his astronomical pay packet. Bringing him back to United was a huge mistake, which we're seeing play out now in almost 'Muskian' fashion.
The real winners here are Juventus who shed his wages and got ~£20M for the privilege. That was an astute bit of business.
Think about it. Nobody wanted him but Juve somehow unloaded him on a clueless United and now the music has stopped and no chairs are left but Ronaldo remains and now United see that literally nobody else wants him.

Now you're stretching to rumours of a pay cut.
So your stance is that players are good to sign large money contracts and thei[PHP]r clubs should "support" t them walking out on that contract by paying a portion of their weekly wages.
Ronaldo wanted to move. United wanted him for the season.
Nonetheless they weren't resistant to letting him move.
No one wanted him with the main barrier being his wages.
Ronaldo wasn't willing to take a pay cut which was the main barrier to him moving.
So because he wasn't willing to take a pay cut to facilitate a move he wanted you believe United should have stepped in to pay a portion of his wages even though they wanted to keep him?
Why do you believe United should have paid a chunk of his wages when CR could simply have taken less?

Who knows if it's true but the were rumors that Ronaldo was willing to take a 30% pay cut, sure he should have just taken a 50% pay cut but he didn't. I'm not saying Ronaldo is without blame either, he's been pouty and disengaged all season which only makes it harder for him to move now.
My entire point is this outcome right now of having whiney Ronaldo tearing the club down from within was predictable.
And that they should have tried harder to help facilitate a move, even if they had to eat 100k of his wages.

Alright, I'll agree with that.
I mean, its a huge reason that Juve were so keen to move him in the first place.

I'm not even going to engage with your "rumours" But will simply ask you to provide a decent link of these rumours.
So United wanted to keep him for the season yet should have facilitated his move by paying his wages? Seriously wtf? This is NOT a Sanchez loan scenario.
And yes we all know he is a whiny princess but no this wasn't predictable. This is unprecedented behaviour.

we'll see what they ultimately choose to do once the whole interview airs, but surely he's done enough already to explore legal options. He's straight up slandering the club now (like claiming they "kind of" didn't believe him that his daughter was sick ... you know, when they gave him the whole preseason off), and given he's refused to come on in a game and decided to give interviews like this one, surely there's some kind of breach of contract there. The gloves are off for good now, no need to play nice any more.

Okay nobody would have predicted a tell all Piers Morgan interview that’s a scathing review of the current team (although i do think it’s funny the fanbase calls out the Glazers for being cheap and not investing in the squad infrastructure all the time)
But him being malcontent on the pitch and in the locker room was completely predictable. Did people really think he’d be happy with a super sub and no Champions League?
And here was the original source of the rumor he was willing to cut wages: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...unc-VfihQOKn1A
It just makes me laugh that people think that the Glazers and Man U could have possibly played a role in this too, sure Ronaldo carries most of the blame but let’s not act like Man U hasn’t been bottling decisions since Sir Alex left either.

Everyone knew he wanted CL football, hence the reason for his attempt to move. What's your point here? The issue was that no-one wanted him.
What made you think at the start of the season that he was destined for a season on the bench?
Considering he's just come off a season where he outperform Kane in and finished 3rd in the PL golden boot.

So your stance is that basically if a player, under contract, wants to essentially break the contract and leave against the club's wishes but no-one wants him the club should pay a significant part of his wages to facilitate his wishes rather than the player taking a pay cut?
He wanted to leave but wanted to take his contract with him. The contract (wages) was his barrier to finding a new club. He did nothing to address that.
And you think the club should step in and offer to pay half his wages? lol ...no!
