That was a heck of a shot. Give a star player that much time in that area of the ice and he'll score most of the time. I don't fault Markstrom at all on that one.

Okay, it was a great shot, but it was also a long way out with no traffic.

Markstrom is really deep in his crease - if he is out 2', at the top of the crease, he makes that save no problem.

We need a high-performing RW that can play with Hubs. We need goaltending.

We need chemistry.

Salute.
Do you guys maybe think they are building chemistry after major change to the entire core in the offseason? I'm not sure why people thought it would happen super fast. And the bold statements about the offseason already. I didn't know chemistry was such a black and white, unchanging thing.

Calling your goaltender awful in a game he was awful is not toxic. It’s not like I was completely negative I complimented the new line combinations and how we got some good offensive spark out of it. I agree with whomever said this doesn’t feel like a Sutter team right now. Strong defensive game is there at times but too many lapses and the goaltending has been very bad.

Dude...its not toxicity, granted its not pie-eyed optimism either, but I think criticism is largely valid.

A lot of players did not play up to potential, acknowledging that, despite the win, things are not ideal is not necessarily toxic.

It is possible to acknowledge that the Flames are progressing to be better but that not all problems have been solved. These two concepts can co-exist, that doesnt make the people who entertain them 'Toxic.'

But there are terms for people who only understand that either everything is terrible or everything is perfect.

I once traded over half the team partway through a season of NHL<insert year here> and it worked instantly. Easy peasy. Why can't actual pros do it too? amiright?

Too, too sadly easy.

Honestly, I disagree to an extent about the toxicity in general. Criticism is certainly valid, because a game is never perfect from start to finish and from every player. But I think this fan base has turned pretty toxic in general; here on CP, on Twitter, Reddit, the Discord, etc. Maybe that's just social media in general now? I don't know.

A large contingent of fans seem to prefer when the Flames disappoint or a specific player struggles just so they can say "told you so" and rub it in people's faces.

The way the fanbase turned in the last couple years is largely why I gave up making videos. Just not worth the time and effort anymore. Game threads are ugly, and have been for years... but now even a lot of post game threads are just filled with bickering and are rarely enjoyable to participate in either.

I guess that's what people seem to want though.
