There is one news source saying that the female prisoners are being forced to marry prison guards before their executions. I am not sure what the point of that is though.

That practice goes back to the early days of the revolution, the idea is it is unislamic to execute a virgin so the unmarried teen girls were (and are) married to a guard and raped the night before the execution so they are not virgins when killed

Seems like a social media fake headline. I've seen people re posting it all over Instagram but no source saying anything about 15,000 executions.

Pretty sure it was that parliament "voted" to suggest that they all be executed.

Basically a symbolic passage / condemnation to deter protestors and not actually them passing a law or ordering the executions (think their crappy courts still handle that side of things).

The headlines are intentionally written to make it sound otherwise tho - hence all the confusion/outrage. Media gonna media

It's not media though; I can't find any media with headlines like this.
It all seems to be originating from social media meme accounts saying "main stream media isn't talking about this!".
There's no reliable source saying that vote even happened.

I didn’t hear about women being forced to marry the guards, but I read that the virgin female prisoners have to be raped before they are executed so they don’t go to “heaven”

The "15k sentenced to death" is not correct. Someone just put together separate sources/articles and extrapolated it to make a headline. There is one confirmed death sentence thus far with lawmakers pushing for "harsh punishments for anyone involved".

The worst part is that it's being used to create distrust in the media, likely from sources with an agenda to do that.
The social media posts are telling you to tag mainstream media outlets and the comments are full of people text yelling at them 'why aren't you reporting this!"

It's very sad how easy it is for these channels to manufacture distrust in reliable media outlets that are vital for verifying things like this.
