Basically he needs "40 goals" worth of grade A opportunities to get 20 goals. He'll do that if you put him with the right star player for sure, but it's to his benefit only, not the team.

I would have thought the exact same thing about Sam Bennett, and that kind of worked.
I feel like Backlund, Dube, and Coleman could all work with Huberdeau because he needs guys that are quick and not afraid to do a bit of the heavy lifting.

I gotta say it's not a great look to see Huberdeau on the 3rd line a month after signing an 8 year $10.5m contract

Lindholm was always the best fit for Huberdeau. He's the best pure shooter on the team. As a goal scorer Mangiapane makes sense until you think how he gets a lot of his goals. He's kind of an around the net opportunist
After that there's not a whole lot. I'd almost try Backlund with Huberdeau and Toffoli. Lindholm with Ruzicka and Mangiapane. Kadri with Coleman and Dube.
Kadri seems like he can play with anyone, maybe with his 200ft game and better offensive talent, he can elevate Coleman and Dube and bit better than Backlund could. Backlund has turned out to be such a solid player, but he has always been limited offensively. His impeccable 200ft game, and ability to play with good players jump-started Tkachuks carreer and gave the Flames a really underrated 2nd line for years.

It's kind of interesting that Huberdeau and Tkachuk seem to have had similar initial struggles with Sutter (ice time, usage, performance, etc).
Both guys weren't really guys that played with pace, and seem to slow the game down a bit more.
Tkachuk figured it out under Sutter and became a better player for it, hopefully Huberdeau does that soon too.
Gaudreau had 2 even strength points, and 7 points in his first 14 games under Sutter as well.

Both Lindholm and Toffoli are good options to distribute to - that wasn't the problem

I think Huberdeau's "lack of performance" is totally understandable for someone who has entirely new teammates, systems, and expectations from the rest of his career. 6 points in 11 games isn't great, but it's really 10.5 games... were we expecting him to know everything and play exactly as our well-known-to-be-a-hardass coach wanted in minute 1? I wasn't.
Let's talk about this issue if he's still not looking right at 41 games.

Agreed, problem is Sutter is myopic...win now, win now, my way or the ######ing highway and he won't let up on these guys in the pressers. I think calling players out the way he does is both unprofessional and childish. Total hick.

I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration. I do think there are certain players or personalities he doesn’t mesh well with. And there is a shelf life with him just like there is with almost all coaches. Whether that is an issue here we can’t say since we are not in the locker room or have a view there.

Well Sutter has certainly accomplished far more than any of these players. Who should have the shelf life?

True, but in my opinion only he is not the coach for this team by a long shot.
Way to talented to be playing Sutter hockey.

For sure - I was talking about the idea that Huberdeau would be the distributer on a line with Backlund and Coleman - Who is he distributing to? To get near his 85 assists from last season he'll need to play with at least one skilled goal scorer.
The problem with the Huberdeau-Lindholm-Toffoli line was partially chemistry, and I also think partly Huberdeau being in a bit of a funk (could be new system, new teammates, etc.).

I suspect that Yikes named his dog Sutter. And then Sutter shat in his shoes and then ran away.
