I like Huberdeau-Backlund. Backlund is a smart, crafty player. I think he and Huberdeau will click.

So either way it was a dumb move on his part

100% agree. Everyone clicks with Backlund. You want to get Huberdeau going? This is how you do it.

Or it’s being overblown and its a nothing thing

When the team is winning, the coach is brilliant, 'playing 4D chess'.
When the team is losing, the coach is playing 'mind games'
- fans everywhere

I definitely don't mind Rooney being the one sitting, but I think Sutter is trolling with those lines.
Coleman has been one of the best Flames forwards, and he would be a much better fit on either the Backlund or the Kadri line. Dube is ice cold, and a demotion makes sense, but Lucic hasn't been playing great either, in fact I thought that him being on the ice cost us more often than not during the 7 game losing skid.
All in all, it just seems like a case of Sutter trying to find more finishing, and get players more familiar with one another.

I think it's because if you are trying to put Dube at center you want him to have some support. Hence Coleman on that line.

Why would Seravalli make that up? Don’t see his angle there

The funny thing is interacting with the media has little to no impact on game results. The only reason it is a necessary skill is because fans need to be given a bone.
Sutters real work happens behind closed doors.

It's not necessarily a case of making it up. More likely he is interpreting a casual comment as something more than it is. The moment a media member makes a comment, it instantly elevates things to a point of substantiation, whether or not there was any actual substantiation before the reporting.

Seravelli's angle is obvious, generate intrigue so that people consume his content so he can pay his mortgage. The media is in the entertainment business.

Not trying to start anything, but just curious, is Coleman one of the Flames best forwards according to the advanced stats?
IMHO he’s been bad. He handles the puck like it’s a bouncy ball and provides nearly no offence. I know this isn’t his role, but I think he needs to chip in a little more than he has so far.
Maybe I just haven’t been paying close attention to other things like defensive details etc.

Sutter once again blowing up the lines after a win and d pairings that have been working.
Lucic doesn't even deserve to be in the lineup with how poor his defensive play is yet Sutter loves his pluggers. Tossing Huberdeau on the 3rd line I guess makes sense since he plays him bottom line minutes anyways.
Looks like a coach who is in panic mode with the blender.

Most people I know thought the comment was hilarious. There are Sutter media compilations all over YouTube. He’s known for stuff like this… I imagine the players thought it was hilarious too… these are hockey players, not beauty pageant contestants. Can you even imagine a conversation in the locker room where players were offended:
“Hey Looch, did you hear Sutter said the ‘S’ word in the media scrum?!”
“Oh. My. God. Unacceptable behaviour. I’m hurt and offended.”
“Me too. I have to go and do a poo poo now”

I don’t think Coleman has been great. Skates all over the place but doesn’t accomplish much.
