I think Paulie is overreacting a bit. I do agree division title is on life support if not already dead. I don’t think our division is very good and I can see a 2-3 seed being quite possible.

Yeah I might be. Winning as much as we did last season and now watching this debacle sucks. I'd love to look like an idiot in May. It's just a game but losing always sucks.

Calling me a jackass and saying you are calling me out and continuing to try to bet me is a bit much.

Between Vegas, Seattle, LA, and Edmonton, it's wishful thinking to say that more than 2 of the 4 will fall short of reaching 100 points. Realistically, the #1 and #2 seeds are probably out of reach for the Flames. That leaves them competing with 2 other teams for the #3 seed. Winning that battle is a very attainable goal if the team gets its full roster back relatively quickly, develops some chemistry, and goaltending holds up its end of the bargain.

That said, if the team's offensive woes continue for much longer, a callup is probably warranted.

I have taken steps to rectify this whole situation. I finally set up the ole Flames Shrine. As such we are about to witness an epic win streak.

I don't really get the injury excuse.

Every team has injuries to key players. E Kane, Landeskog, Lehner, McAvoy, Marchand (I know they're back now) and Ehlers to name some. Not a great excuse to go on huge slides. Good teams continue to be good.
The flames were exceptionally fortunate with injuries last season that is not the norm.

There is still lots of time, they haven't been terrible games lately and their shooting percentage is atrocious so they will most likely upswing in the near future.

I'm just not convinced we have the high end talent to seriously compete when it matters but I haven't seen this iteration of the team fully gel yet. We need Lindholm, Huberdeau, Mangiapane and Markstrom to start playing to their capabilities. Hopefully our expectations of their capabilities are realistic and they can actually get there again.

Well stop being so over the top and calling the season over 13 games in

Flames were ahead of the Oilers on points percentage 3 days ago. After tomorrow they might both be .500.

Lots of hockey left obviously

I'm just saying it happens to everyone so it's not a fair excuse.

It doesn’t happen uniformly to every team

Most teams will struggle when missing 3 or 4 important pieces...you mention Vegas but they are getting good goaltending. They missed the playoffs last year because of injury. It's not an excuse it's just reality that the Flames will likely do far better when Tanev and Huberdeau especially are back. Bruins this year are an exception.

Anyway I'm not looking for an excuse I am explaining my reasoning for saying I think they still easily make the playoffs.

Their schedule from December on is soft and they will be better if they get guys back and build some more chemistry.

All IMO but the season is very not over that is ridiculous

Injuries, blown leads, bad goaltending and a whole new core. I’d say there is reason for optimism. This team overall doesn’t have that bad a record and has played well

My only concern is how bad the Flsmes play when Tanev is hurt. Their record without him is very bad

Money puck has the Flames at 79.5% odds to make the playoffs...it's not a blind homer thing

Remaining Schedule matters

only 6 losses in regulation in 13 games despite a lengthy losing stretch isn't bad .. the overtime games help (but we also should have won those) . win the games in hand and you are back in the thick of it

the problem i think is you're going a bit off the edge on the negative side with your outlook while the Flames are objectively far from out of it and can still easily turn it around .. and it's hard to be truly out of it in the pacific because no one but Vegas is likely to pull out of reach .. it does suck right now but your arguments have had holes in them and come off lazy and defeatist yet you staunchly defend the worst possible outcome .. so forgive others if you're not given the most warm reception

we've played 13 of 82 games .. acting like things are decided already is silly and kind of an overreach

Silver lining to this season is if the Flames....flame out, it's a good draft year to do so.

And an opportunity to milk a couple extra picks and potentially restock the cupboards a little bit.

Majority of the roster is locked up for the next few years, they can definitely side step a few roster decisions at the deadline if it bottoms out.

Don't think they will but IF it does, there's some optimism for a fun draft.

you really want to be bottom of the pack if you are going to flame out this year .. don't have a down year and not get yourself in the mix for a generational player

if injuries decimate the team it could be the perfect lightning in a bottle situation where you cash in on a franchise type pick and then rebound with a healthy team and your long term signed stars next season with that added blue chip prospect and coronato entering the frame

None of those examples are comparable. Name another team missing its top forward and three of its top 7 defensemen?

Who needs a division title...you could get Seattle in the 2/3 spot

Winning the Pacific could very likely get you a harder first round opponent like last season

Pessimistic because of the lack of finish and speed.

Optimistic because of veteran players that have won elsewhere.

Pessimistic about the veterans that are post apex and consistently not showing much jump after the 5th game (or so).

Optimistic because of defensive core and this goaltending duo’s potential.

Injuries are going to happen and great teams persevere, even good teams hang in there and give themselves a chance.

Gut check time for the organization… pull out the cliches
