If I'm a GM and Holland approaches me with his new found cap space wanting a top pairing blueliner or top pairing forward.
My ask is pretty east, their first round pick not protected, and Holloway.
Now, frankly I don't think Holloway is close to NHL ready. But he is the Oilers best prospect without question, and I as a GM and not there to help them out of their bad GM'ing.
I'm also probably asking for either JP or Yamamoto, though both are plugs,

If they do, they will be screwed if Kane is ready to come back before season's end.
I think it is more likely that they see how it goes for now, and if it is looking by the trade deadline like Kane might not be back until the playoffs, then they go spend the cap space.
But if they do it now, and he is ready to come back in February, they're screwed.

At even strength Puljujarvi has 55 mins with one of the other.
Yamamoto has 135 mins - that's almost 10 mins a game with McDavid or Leon. He's getting a regular shift with both.
Neither gets pp time but Yamamoto has very little excuse to why he has been invisible other than he gets no PP time.
1 should get PP time now and probably starts getting points and we will be seeing in a month how great they are.

All of this talk about the Oilers trading away their 1st or Holloway is nothing but noise. They won't be in a playoff spot at the trade deadline and will be sellers, not buyers.

Oilers lost the game 2-7, but hey, McDavid scored a goal and added an assist. He was involved in both of their goals! Oilers fans can go to bed smiling.

Campbell wasn't great last year with the Leafs after coming back late in the season and he's getting exposed behind an awful Oilers defence. It will most likely be a long 5 years with that kind of contract committed to him. .873
