Ah. He was poorly explained in Force Awakens, and just wasn't invested in the movie enough to dig deeper to see who he even was.

I like it, Skarsgards character has me on the knifes edge of getting an "The Empire was Right" mug.
I guess Trump with right, there are terrible people on both sides.

I'm on team Serkis and the escapees
hard to like a lot of people on either side, and hard to completely hate them either . but that's part of what makes it interesting

I'm glad we didn't go into backstories with the prisoners. For all we know he was in the wing with all the rapists and murderers.

I mean, if you want to lock up an entire demographic of some of the worst people in the Galaxy, you start with the Cyclists but you rapidly move on to the Beach Joggers.

Everybody knows the entire prison is full of dastardly scum who idle their Corellian Corvette in the crosswalk in front of the grocery store with their flashers on.

My hope for next week is we see Andor and the other guy running away trying to figure out how to get off the planet, when one of those Imperial transport ships swoops down and lands in front of them. Then, as they're panicking thinking they're going to get killed, the door opens and Gollum steps out, and he tells them that he realized there must be some way for the workers at the prison to transport away from the prison, so he went back to the control room and got the guys working there to tell him where to find a ship. Then, they fly off and join the Rebellion.

could definitely see this . they have to have scheduled transports flying in and out for the workers .. gollum would just have to extract that information and bide his time . there were still quite a few guards though .. hopefully he isn't cornered and captured after the prisoners flee

And I think we all know, even though regular cycling should by all rights be extinct in this Universe, the cycling culture has just shifted to those weirdo retro hover-cyclists from Book of Boba Fett...and they were just the worst. Just the worst.

I would expect that the Empire knows about the prison break, The only ships that are coming are probably a couple of star destroyers with a full complement of Storm Troopers, and the Bounty Hunter Guild has all their pictures.
Dedre is going to be absolutely pissed that Andor was within her grasp for the last few months and she didn't know it.

if they were competent . the empire despite all its levels of organization and manpower have shown to be anything but
because of the purposeful isolation of the operation there I don't think they figure it out until they send the next shift of workers in which could be a few hour window for the prisoners to run and find hiding or transports of their own . not sure if they can use their communication equipment on the backup power or not

Great, now you made the gerbil wheel turn, thanks a lot.
Who is Luthan?
Well there are some interesting hints.
He gives Andor a Kyber Crystal, the heart of a light saber. He tells Andor to get a least 50,000 for it though its worth far more to him, probably sentimental value.
In one of the early episodes, Andor asks who Luthan is and the answer is interesting "That's not something that we will ever discuss". Not someone, but something.
Its thin, but I believe that Luthan is a former Jedi that survived Order 66 and listened to what Obi-Wan said in his holocron message in Rebels.
Quote:
“This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen, with the dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi. Trust in the Force. Do not return to the Temple. That time has passed. And our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged. Our trust… our faith… our friendships.
“But we must persevere. And in time, a new hope will emerge. May the Force be with you, always.”
|
The Empire doesn't know who Luthan is yet, so why change his look when he returns to his shop. Is it to disguise against future identification, or is the Empire already looking for Luthan from his previous life, and they know what Luthan Jedi Knight looks like.
Is it possible that he is a former Jedi, is it more possible that his ruthless nature and willingness to see civillian casualties to drive the narrative against an Empire that he wants revenge in the worst possible way for the deaths of his friends ? Is he not only a Jedi, but one who has fallen?

Interesting...
https://twitter.com/user/status/1592194605852028931
Disney putting the first two episodes of Andor on TV over the American Thanksgiving weekend. Obviously hoping the show has enough buzz and some fans who haven't had the chance to watch it that it will drive some new subscriptions.
