Strength of schedule doesn't matter everyone plays everyone the same. I don't think people imagined Buffalo and New Jersey being as good as they are starting the season. It could easily be the easiest schedule to start if the Islanders, Devils and Sabers are as brutal as last year. We also got to play 8 at home and pissed that away with poor starts and lapses.

lol wat
Colorado, Carolina, Edmonton x2, Vegas, Boston
Preseason rankings also had it as a really hard schedule to start

again these aren't my stats, sites that rank strength of schedule have Calgary as the hardest thus far and they have been #1 the entire season.

Yes that means they will have the easiest remaining at some point but it certainly matters 12 games in when your opponents are like 30 games above .500 against the rest of the league.

But the Islanders, Devils and Sabres are not as brutal as last year. Last year doesn't matter. Our strength of schedule YTD has been the toughest in the league, based on YTD records of opposition.

What I don't get is that on one of these "schedule strength" rankings from a week ago VGK had one of the easiest schedules, but then also one of the easiest moving forward. How the hell does that work?

What if... and I'm fully prepared to find out I'm just on crack... but what if our guys are great at suppressing scoring chances and generating scoring chances, but are at or below average at capitalizing on scoring chances? Like... yes, they can get the puck into a good spot, a spot that is considered an "expected goal" but the "expected goal" is still just coming off the stick of a player that will more often shoot it right at the goalie, etc.

Honestly, I feel like there needs to be a per-player stat that tracks whether or not they panic with a puck on their stick and an open net, or they close their eyes and shoot, or they just don't even aim it. It just seems to me that other than Toffoli, Mangiapane and Lindholm, our forwards are either "oh look, a puck!" *pass* (Huberdeau) or "oh look, a puck!" *wild, unaimed shot in the general direction of the net* (everyone else not mentioned).

Edit: (in other words... what if being 23rd in shooting % in spite of being 6th in xGF% isn't actually just bad luck, or a funk, or bad bounces, etc? what if it literally just means we have lousy shooters throughout our lineup?)

A few more losses and Gaskal is going to be out of practice.

Please just win, don't care if it's regulation, OT or shootout. Just get the 2 points.

Never mind the Around the League Report... I'm too scared to even look at the standings.

The good news is (if there is any), as horrible as this has been, we are only 1 point out, with games in hand.
Obviously though, this cannot continue

I looked, unpleasant is a good descriptor, its as if someone flipped us and Edmonton since the last time I looked, that's a kick in the jewels so I closed the page.

She’s good to look at and realize all isn’t that bad.

You know what’s bad, our home arena atmosphere and the ####ty beer.

Thought they'd actually played well the last few games, hoping this is the one where they put it together
