What more exposition do you need than "Somehow Palpatine returned"
More along the line of, our rogue director killed off our primary villain like a chump. And nobody buys this emo teenager as a primary villain. The fans are pissed, so lets fan service the crap out of this thing and completely ruin a great villain by beating him when Rey crosses the streams.
Oh and to really add to it, lets ram this metal rod up Palpatine's butt like a puppet.

They’ve released a one-minute preview of the next Andor. I think maybe that one minute I saw is better than entire Star Wars movies. I guess it’s Andy Serkis’s personal Star Wars redemption story too.

I noticed that the orange on the prison jumpsuits was similar to the orange on some of the rebel uniforms. I wonder if a lot of the rebellion are prison escapees who adopt the prison uniform as a symbol of pride.

Or JJ Abrams / Disney are cowards that folded to a large minority of fan boys who can't accept death of the author, just like warner brothers and the justice league. When you try to retcon your entire franchise because one episode didn't live up to a few peoples plot expectations you are predictably going to look incoherent to everyone.
*Also Snoke was a crappy villain in TFA, he was a crappy villain in the LTJ, he embodied the lack originality in that trilogy and killing him was one of the best plot movements in all of star wars.
But more on topic, Andor is good can't wait for the binge in two weeks, rewatched Rogue One this week it's good too.
The unintended comedy of wookies being set on fire when the floor turns on.
I'm still not sure what they're making, But I'm assuming its death star tech.
My disappointment became immeasurable and my day was forever ruined when someone pointed out to me that when the prisoners were shocked that their hairs didn't start standing up.

I dont think they're cowards...I think they're idiots.
Have 1 story. One coherent vision that you're going to take your time working towards.
I've said it a million times. The new trilogy had a ton of characters with no depth and nothing to do that were uninspiring and uninteresting.
The Galaxy at the very beginning of the Trilogy and at the very end is essentially in the exact same place. None of these people, places or events moved the needle or changed anything.
It was a whole lot of struggle for nothing, and if thats the case...why should we care?

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Its funny because just from a story telling aspect, Locke your right. So
We have a republic that survives for thousands of years as a theoretical democracy. But you look at the history of it, the core worlds are wealthy, the outer rim worlds are the hive of scum and villany, and exploited for their wealth by the Republic and mega corps. So when Palpatine launches his plan to create a phony civil war, its easy to find eager worlds that want to leave the republic. At the same time Palpatine doesn't have to work to hard to sew the seeds of corruption. The banks and corporate worlds eagerly exploit the outer rim and the poor. While they have anti-slavery laws, the Republic doesn't have the power to do anything to enforce it, and the criminal elements take over and govern the outer rim.
The republic falls to thunderous applause. The Empire comes in and establishes order, creates a huge military to enforce order. The people are actually happy with the empire because it makes sense with a galaxy that large. Then
Palpatine loses his nut and orders the destruction of Alderaan, a major turning point. The empire goes from a beacon of peace and security to an oppressive government with an Emperor that can enact heavy handed laws with no oversight.
The Empire is still powerful, but the Rebellion gains power as former loyal Imperial officers can't take part in the savage heavy handedness of the Empire.
The war ends, the Empire crumbles into small pocket empires more interested in fighting each other.
The New Republic quickly fails, The outer rim reverts back to slavery and a lack of attention by the government. The First Order rises and not only absorbs the pocket empire but gains popularity in the outer rim with their promise of order and stability. Princess Leia recognizes the threat and the Republic ignores her. So they lose their best possible leader to a rebellion.
The First Order rises in power and destroys the seat of government, They quickly conquor sector by sector, but they're not really a government. More of a "peacekeeping through force" element.
Their supreme leader dies, Palpatine rises again for god knows what. He's not interested in governing, but more petty revenge.
Palpatine dies, the First Order is destroyed, but there's no government in its place, no infrastructure at all. I expect that alliances between worlds would form in some cases. Ambitious leaders would try to create empires. There's no central authority. The Galaxy would crumble into a state of war without end, individual trade agreements. No universal law to prevent the surviving mega corps and criminal organizations from gaining power and wealth.
There is one Jedi, but I doubt that Rey would recreate the Jedi Order as she's more Grey.
Literally I think if we look at the Galaxy 10 years after the end of Rise of Skywalker it would be a hell scape of hundreds to empires fighting each other for resources. The Crime Lords would dominate the resource rich outer rim. There would be no distribution of wealth. Health standards, or fair trade.
That's the movie that I want to see.

I'm not going to spoiler this because it's pure conjecture, and probably even borders on blowing smoke out of my arse. But who exactly is that old guy in the beginning of the Force Awakens, and is it possible Skarsgard's character ends up being him? The thought just popped in my head tonight.
It's unlikely. There's about 40 years between the events of Andor and The Force Awakens. Skarsgard is only about 15 years younger than von Sydow was in TFA.

This guy:
Lor San Tekka is a different guy, a adherent religious zealot in the Church of the Force. A person that basically worshipped the Jedi and the Force but had no Force powers.

Incredible TV. This could be a story outside of Star Wars and be amazing.
Star Wars needs more of this. Stellan Skarskgard and Diego Luna are killing it.
This is exactly the problem I see Star Wars fixing and Marvel losing.
I look at the phase 1 and 2 Marvel movies and they were mostly all good movies that mixed in a superhero. Captain America is a good enough war movie where they could have just replaced the Super Serum with a giant work out montage and Stallone could have starred. Winter Soldier didn't really need it to be Super Heroes. Lately instead of good plots with the super hero element added, they have become super hero movies with a plot shoe horned in.
Star Wars seems to be going the opposite. Andor doesn't need to be in the Star Wars universe to succeed, but it adds the flavour we want. I like Boba Fett for the same reason, and also why I didn't like the Grogu episodes forced in. Mando is a great series that could have been in a different universe and just add a Grogu stand in like short round.
Rogue One used the Rebellion as a backdrop, but as a movie plot, it works without it. Solo on the other hand felt like it was Han Solo with a plot forced into it. And I won't even get into the "plots" of the Sequels.. if you take the Star Wars out of them, they don't work.
Now, I love me some fan service (or franchise focus), and I think Obi-wan and Tales of the Jedi were all that and it worked, but it is nice to see the heads at Star Wars realize what made Marvel successful was good movies with Franchise elements instead of all Franchise with a movie forced into it.
