People like Yoho who make selfish decisions, and then bitch about the results of that selfishness while the rest of us suffer for their poorly thought out choices unfortunately only know one move. Double down. The fact they pretend they have some moral high ground at this point is disgusting, but that's who they are.

Is having the Alberta party on the ballot bad for splitting the progressive vote this spring paving the way for the the ucp to sneak right up the middle in places like Calgary?

I think the AB Party only got such a good % of votes in this riding because the former but popular mayor of Brooks was running. I doubt they'll see the same momentum in the general election.

Despite your protests, those results last night are a death knell for the AP. If Mori####a can't come in second in that election, it's pretty clear what's coming. A two=way fight between the NDP and UCP across the province. That leaves the AP squeezed out as would-be supporters vote strategically.
|
I'll continue to be interested and follow the Alberta Party and probably vote for them going forward. I'm not interested in the UCP or the NDP. I'm also not interested in playing political games and voting strategically to help one party or another lose. The AP might not stand a chance in the next election but losers to need stick together.

In our office today, one of the outspoken anti-vaxxers got COVID. I haven't seen him in weeks but that department is down the hall from me and everyone is on edge, going to check symptoms and take tests.
However, there is a bit of discrimination here. Over the past 2 years, numerous people, including a couple of my direct reports, have gotten COVID and it's been hush-hush. I've always has to call other people saying, "A person you may have been in contact with just got COVID so please get tested and stay home for 7 days etc..." The person's identity is never revealed to others.
But today, it was a company-wide email from HR saying this specific person got COVID. So I do think that's targeting.

Weird. At our company it was common courtesy to give people a heads up that you caught it and when you were in the office previously. Seems like the non-dink way to go about things.

I agree but our HR never allowed it, probably feared people who got COVID would be discriminated against. I mean this started in 2020 when things were just starting and has continue until now, I wasn't allowed to reveal their identity, even to my own team!

I find it almost funny how quickly we've gone back to sick people need to get back into the office as soon as possible. We just went through 2 years of proving that people can work from home without issue (mostly, I know there's always exceptions to this) but you sick people better not be out of the office more than 2-3 days!

Why is every story from your office nearly unbelievable? I could see one or two, but do you work at Willy Wonka’s Accounting Factory or something?

Discriminated against? We felt bad for people that caught it. It sounds like, from your previous comments, that your company just doesn’t want people to have some reason to resist coming in. Have you ever thought of leaving? Your workplace sounds awful.

What she's describing is exactly the same as my workplace - a few people have gotten COVID, and HR did not name names. It was an office wide or group wide e-mail that was basically, "if you work on this floor, someone on your floor who was in the office on X day has tested positive for COVID. Take a test, stay home if you're experiencing symptoms, etc etc." I was never in direct contact with the people in question so the only way I ever found out who it was was from word of mouth, if at all (I wasn't really interested in knowing as long as it was someone who I hadn't had contact with, directly or second hand).

I can understand HR staying out of it and just issuing a blanket statement, but the person themselves could easily compose a short email or Teams message, “hey guys, I got covid, I was in the office on blah blah blah day, if we crossed paths you should especially get tested” in the event that they didn’t just stick to one floor or group.

I'd work from home more if my residential upload and download speeds weren't garbage compared to the commercial speeds in the office, same with an ergonomic home office setup. If my work isn't prepared to upgrade all of that on their dime (which they aren't), I'm working in the office as I simply get more done for those reasons alone. If I get COVID though (haven't had it yet, crosses fingers) - I'm staying at home, #### coming in even if HR wants, lol.

The stigma isn't getting COVID. 90% of the people I know have had it. The stigma is in not giving a #### about spreading it to other people, and then spreading it to other people. And that isn't stigma, it's accountability.
